Intermediate Division

Heat 30 – Wizards 25

The second game of the season was much improved for the Wizards. They started out strong on offense with scoring from Nick Cappiello, Matt Perron and Alec Sokol keeping the game close with the score 11-12 at half time. On defense Dominic Cohen, Owen Gilligan and John Murphy made it very difficult for the Heat to make quality shots with the pressure they applied at key moments of the game. The Wizards gave it a great team effort on rebounding but were led by Sean McMahon and Rich Cappiello. Even though Xavier McShane is unable to play his presence was felt on the bench showing up to support the team but we are all looking forward to his return. Unfortunately at the end of a great game the Wizards got into foul trouble and ended up not able to close the scoring gap, losing by the score of 30-25.

Travel Write Ups

Tewksbury 6th Grade Red 48 Andover Gold 28

The Tewksbury Red 6th Grade Travel team got off on the right foot as they began their season with an impressive 48-28 victory over Andover Gold. The game was close early but Tewksbury would go on a late run to close out the half with a 25-12 lead. It was more of the same in the second half as Andover would close the gap to 10 but then Tewksbury went on another strong run to seal the win. Both runs were sparked by Tewksbury's relentless defensive pressure which stifled Andover's offense and the ensuing chaos led to multiple fast breaks for Tewksbury.

The offensive attack was balanced as all ten players contributed points. Richie Markwarth was high scorer with 8 points, followed by Chris Antonelli and Thomas Bradley with 7 each. Also scoring was Garrett Kingston (6), Shane Aylward (6), Greg Sencabaugh (6) and Nolan Timmons, Nicky Iannacci, Tyler Keough and Paul Manzi each with 2 points.
