Sherry A. Girard

April 23,1952 - February 1, 2014

TEWKSBURY - Sherry Ann (Meagan) Girard, age 61, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 1 at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading after a long courageous battle with cancer.  She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Girard, who died in 1994.

She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to John J. Meagan and Phyllis (Siegenthalar)(Meagan)Merrow.  Her family lived in Florida before settling in Swampscott, where she graduated from Swampscott High School.  After high school she attended Marion Court College, where she earned a degree in business.  She went on to become an accountant at Majilite Company in Dracut, where she had worked for the past forty years.

Sherry loved to travel and enjoyed many vacations at her timeshare in West Palm Beach, FL.  She made many friends through work and her association with the “Red Hatters,” but the time she enjoyed most was spent with her family.

She leaves her son, Matthew J. Girard of Tewksbury, with whom she resided; her step children, Elaine Prescott and her husband Mark of Hollis, NH, Richard Girard II and his wife Christine Lutts of Salem, MA, Gregory Girard of Chelmsford, and Susan Bablouzian and her husband Leon of Framingham; eight step-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Linda Merrow of Clinton, ME, Vickie Harvey and her husband Michael of Danvers, Ralph Merrow and his wife Heather of Waterville, ME, Peggy Nault and her husband Deni-Marc of Sullivan, ME; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Kenneth Meagan who preceeded her in death this past Monday.

Relatives and friends will be received Saturday, February 8, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.  A Memorial Service will follow visiting hours on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the  Middlesex East VNA, Sawtelle House, 607 North Ave., Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880 or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, are encouraged. tewksburyfuneralhome.com
