Redmen Continue Winning Ways

Before I start the article, I do want to apologize for not being able to give a review on every game. With my work schedule, I am mainly only able to get to weekend games, and the occasional weekday game. I do try my absolute best to get to all these games and to give you all an analysis on the game to make it seem like you were there yourself if you missed it!

Onto Saturday's bout.

Tewksbury came into their home rink knowing that they couldn't drop a game to a .500 team in Concord-Carlisle. They handled the Patriots last time around, 4-1, and this time would be no different.

Concord Carlisle came out strong in the first. Without a doubt, Tewksbury looked like they would have a tough opponent on their hands. Although, once Tewksbury got rolling, they shifted into the next gear and CC could not catch up.

The Redmen got on the board 8:58 into the 1st period when Jack Cash tipped a Brett Morris slapshot past CC's Cam Hill. Great hand-eye by Cash gave Tewksbury a 1-0 lead.

Tewksbury wasn't done in the 1st period by any means. About 3 minutes after the first goal, Captain Ross Budryk took a loose puck, just inside the zone, down into the corner of the ice. He fired a snapshot in front of the net and David Dempsey tipped the puck home for his 2nd goal of the season. A great play by both Budryk and Dempsey gave the Redmen a huge 2-0 lead going into the first intermission.

Tewksbury really showed a lot of great hustle in this game. Pat Leonard is a great example of that when he scored his goal in the second period. Leonard fought and won a 1 on 1 battle behind the CC net, and managed to reach around the net and tuck the puck in the corner, over the goal line, for the 3rd Tewksbury goal of the game.

The Red got two goals in the 1st period, why not get two in the 2nd as well? About 2 minutes after Leonard's great play, Colin Quinn took a pass from Ryan Meade, and backhanded the puck behind his back to an open Jack Cash who buried the puck into the net for his second of the game.

On the same play, Concord Carlisle Senior Captain Nick Brozowski seemed to get hit and fell down in pain. I did not see the play personally as I was watching the Redmen's scoring chance, but Brozowski was in a severe amount of pain, holding his leg. He managed to get up on his own power, but was helped off of the ice. Brozowski would not return and was taken out of the rink on a stretcher. I would like to send out my condolences to Nick and wish him a speedy recovery. It always stinks to see a great player go down with a serious injury.

When the third period rolled around, Tewksbury kept on driving. Still up 4-0, Kyle Paquette wanted to get his 6th shutout of the year and the boys in front of him made sure that happened. But besides their outstanding defensive play, they weren't done on offense either. Well at least Ryan Petti wasn't.

Ryan scored two goals in the third, and I swear there were a few people in the crowd who experienced a "deja vu" moment. Both goals Petti came down on a 2 on 1, both times he elected to take the shot and he was not wrong with that decision. Petti went glove side high on the first goal and stick side high on the second goal, expanding Tewksbury's lead to 6.

The clock wound down and the score remained the same.

Tewksbury with yet another absolutely dominating performance. The Redmen, now 12-2-2 on the year, played a game tonight against North Andover. That game was a make up from last Wednesday's cancelled game. Tewksbury then plays Wednesday at Northeastern University's Matthew's Arena against Boston Latin.

I will have brief reviews on both games, as I was unable to make it tonight due to work, and don't believe I will be able to make Wednesday's game either. I also plan on doing a season wrap up article. Of course that is when the regular season comes to an end.

Before I finish, I would like to say sorry to Dario Riparo as I have repeatedly noted him as a Junior in multiple articles. I know he is a Sophomore but for some reason I always mention him as a Junior.

Have a good one guys, and as always, Go Redmen.
