Tewksbury Skates Past Methuen, 2-0

Coming off a tough loss to Lincoln-Sudbury, Tewksbury entered Saturday with a virtual must win against a .500 team. I do apologize, due to the inclement weather, I did arrive late, and missed all but 1 minute of the 1st period. (That and a wrong exit taken).

After the first period though, the score was tied at 0, and Tewksbury carried a Powerplay into the second. The Redmen didn't take to long to capitalize. Just one minute into the period, off of an offensive zone faceoff, the puck squeaked out of the circle to Junior Dario Riparo, who ripped home a slapshot to give the Redmen a 1-0 lead.

Methuen had chances here and there, but couldn't really put anything together.

The play of the game went to Jack Cash and Ryan Petti. Cash, taking the puck out of the zone, makes a nice move around a defender, and follows it up with a beautiful pass to a speeding Ryan Petti. Petti skates right up the Center of the ice, between any and all forms of defense, takes the puck backhand then forehand before finishing and giving the Redmen a 2-0 lead.

The 3rd period was very quiet offensively. Both teams had a fair amount of chances but nothing was put home. Overall, the game was a pretty quiet game besides the massive amount of penalties called. Slight exaggeration there, but there were plenty of penalties to go around throughout the afternoon.

So Tewksbury takes home their 8th win of the year. They faceoff against Billerica, in Billerica, Wednesday evening at 7 PM.
