Red Cats U12B Skate to 1-1 Tie

The Girls Tewksbury/Wilmington U12B Red Cats faced off against the Lexington/Bedford U12 Blue team on Saturday November 2nd and came away with a 1-1 tie.
The Red Cats displayed spirited play and hustle throughout in this evenly matched contest at the John A. Ryan Arena in Watertown.
Red Cats goalie Kristen Curley was on top of her game, keeping her team in it with some timely, big saves.  The stout defense of Alliana Sampson,  Bridget O’Shea, Kerri Palmer, and Kiley Flynn did a great job of limiting second chance scoring opportunities by quickly clearing away rebounds from in front of the net.
Lexington Blue took a 1-0 lead in the 1st period, but Red Cats forwards Courtney Curtin, Melanie Hayden, Megan Cunningham, Antoria Sweeney, Meredith Chase, Payton Fuller, and Emily Satori played smart, disciplined hockey, and at times poured on the pressure with some great scoring chances of their own, including ringing two shots off the post.
The Red Cats’ hard work finally paid off in the 3rd period when Meredith Chase pounced on a loose puck, moved into the slot and fired one inside the far post to make it 1-1 with 5:04left to play, with assists going to Payton Fuller and Alliana Sampson.
All remaining scoring opportunities for Lexington/Bedford Blue were thwarted with tenacious back checking, defense, and goaltending as the Red Cats earned the 1-1 tie.
