The TMHS Robotics Club recently placed twelfth out of over 50 teams at a robotics competition at Boston University.
At Wednesday night's School Committee meeting, the Tewksbury Memorial High School Robotics Club was recognized by the board, and gave a brief demonstration of their frisbee-throwing robot. Although the robot did not throw any frisbees during the Wednesday night demonstration, the robot is capable of shooting frisbees at different distances, has six air tanks for the pistons used to shoot the frisbees and a ram that pushes up the frisbees into the shooter. At the recent Boston Regionals held at Boston University, the TMHS Robotics club placed twelfth place in a field of more than 50 teams.

Patricia Lally, Assistant Superintendent for Tewksbury Schools, has been offered the Superintendent position for Holbrook Schools. In an email sent to Tewksbury Patch, Lally said she was excited to embark on a new part of her life, but would miss working in the Tewksbury community. "It is an exciting opportunity and I look forward to this new venture," Lally wrote in the email. "The downside is leaving all the wonderful people in Tewksbury who have been so supportive. This is a wonderful community!" Lally's career as an administrator in Tewksbury began in 2003 when she was named assistant principal at Tewksbury High. In 2007, she was promoted to principal and she played a pivotal role on the committee that oversaw the construction of …

Tewksbury residents took the top six places in the 5k.
It was a special year for the Run a Pleasant Mile/5k, one with record turnout and one with proceeds being donated to a special cause. While proceeds from the race usually go to the Tewksbury Memorial High School senior scholarship fund, Coach Peter Molloy was approached by Coach Peter Fortunato and several seniors following the bombings at the Boston Marathon who wanted to do something for the victims and their families. After consulting with the THMS Track and Cross Country Booster club, it was determined all the proceeds from the 2013 Run a Pleasant Mile would be donated to the One Fund, according to Molloy. Special Town Meeting voters will ultimately make the decision on whether or not the new athletic field at Tewksbury High has an artificial turf surface. But one thing appears certain -- they won't be asked to tap the stabilization fund to pay for it. Town Manager Richard Montuouri said this week he believes a recently received state grant, combined with private donations, high school project offsets and Community Preservation funds will be sufficient to pay for the project. "I'm confident that we will not have to use the stabilization fund," said Montuori, who met Wednesday with the Community Preservation Committee to discuss increasing CPA funding for the turf field from $450,000 to $550,000. Montuori estimates the overall cost of …
