Tewksbury High senior track star Jess Bridle closes out her historic career with two more MVC Championships

If there was any doubt as to whether or not Tewksbury High track superstar Jess Bridle would go down in history as one of the top performers ever to lace up a pair of cleats in the Merrimack Valley Conference, the question was answered once and for all Thursday night at Andover High School. Already considered to be one of the most successful runners in MVC track history with eight league championships to her name, Bridle captured her ninth and 10th career MVC gold medals at the 2012 MVC Championship meet, and is so doing accomplished something no other MVC track athlete has ever done, according to TMHS coach John Byrnes. Redmen Roundup: Girls Lacrosse Splits Home and Home With Methuen

Boys lacrosse picks up key victory over Methuen.

The Tewksbury High girls lacrosse team played, what amounted to, a home-and-home series with Methuen High this week. The Redmen came away with one of their strongest games of the season, followed by one of their more disappointing. On Monday, Tewksbury put together a complete effort and rolled to a 14-5 road win over the Rangers. Scoring machine Melissa Peters added four more goals to her tally, giving her more than 100 for her career. Taylor Lirakis and Ashley Kelley backed up Peters efforts with two goals each. Riley Ryan picked up the victory in net with eight saves. The teams met again on Tuesday in Tewksbury but the result was far different. The Rangers took a 6-3 lead at halftime and exploded for 14 goals in the second half en route …

Trull Brook Golf Course and Tennis Center Receives Liquor License

The 126-acre, 18-hole public golf course and tennis center located on River Road recently received a liquor license allowing them to offer their customers what they have been asking for many years.

The Trull Brook Golf Course and Tennis Center, 170 River Road, has only had its liquor license since May 2 and has already thrilled its customers, according to its owners. Lorraine Trull, co-owner with her husband Roy also made improvements to the snack bar, changing its name to T's Bar and Grill and expanding its menu. Although Roy has worked at the course since he was a young boy, the couple have been the sole owners of Trull Brook for the past year and a half. The land was deeded to the Trull Family by King George. Trull's father-in-law Bailey built the golf course in 1963 and the tennis center in 1972. "We are the 15th generation to work the land," she said. Also a hit is the brand new beverage cart that can deliver cold drinks, beer, …

When the mini golf course opens up on 38, I hope they are granted a liquor license as well. After all it would be great to be able to throw back a few cold ones while waiting for the kids to take 15 attempts at getting their ball through the windmill.   more ›

Tewksbury High Softball Coach 'Doc' DiRocco Tallies 300th Win

A 14-1 win over Andover last Wednesday marks Tewksbury High softball coach Leo DiRocco's 300th career win.

Tewksbury High softball coach Leo “Doc” DiRocco might not have been the first to boast about his latest accomplishment, but ask anyone who was among the crowd that packed the stands around Memorial Field last Wednesday night as DiRocco tallied his 300thcareer win, and they wouldn’t hesitate to share the news. “Just kind of putting into perspective what 300 wins really is for a coach, it’s pretty impressive,” said TMHS softball alum Kelly Boyle, who came to watch her former coach reach the milestone. “It was cool to see.” Win number 300 came as Tewksbury topped Andover 14-1, and qualified for the state tournament in doing so. But neither wins nor state tournament appearances are new to DiRocco and the Tewksbury High softball program. …

UPDATED Redmen Roundup: 4x100 Relay Team Shatters Record

Tennis team stays hot with 4-1 victory over Billerica.

The Tewksbury High girls track team had some outstanding performances on Saturday at the highly competitive Andover Invitational Meet. The 4x100 meter relay team of Jen Schultz, Jess Bridle, Sarah Hogan and Erin Morrissey placed second in a time of 50.51 seconds. In doing so, they set a new Tewksbury High record. The old mark of 50.64 seconds was set back in 2007 by the team of Laurie Irvine, Ashley Smith, Lindsey Bowden, and Kristina Zontini. "We were very happy for those 4x100 kids.  Erin Morrissey and Jen Schultz are sophomores, and they've never been part of a school record before, but they ran great.  Morrissey's putting together a great season, and Schultz has proven to be very versatile between all three sprints," said Coach John …

Redmen Roundup: TMHS Softball Team Gets DiRocco 300th Win

Baseball tops Methuen but falls short against Central Catholic.

Softball Tewksbury High roared out to a 13-0 lead after three innings and coasted to a 14-1 win over Andover, in a game stopped after 5 innings due to the "mercy rule." The win was significant to the Redmen because it officially qualified them for the Division 2 state tournament. But it was more meaningful because it was the 300th victory of head coach Leo "Doc" DiRocco's career. He is 300-171. Tiffanie Marsh went the first three innings to earn the win in the circle. She struck out four and didn’t allow a hit. Sherri Liggiero and Meghan McLaughlin ripped three hits each to pace the offense. Sam LaFerriere and Brooke Hardy added two hits each, as Tewksbury improved to 10-3 on the season. Baseball When Tewksbury southpaw John Chotkowski is …
