Today's Photo of the Day was submitted by Kelly Boyle of the Performance Training Center on Route 38 in Tewksbury. A group of "boot camp" clients PTC recently paid homage to the 343 New York City firefighters killed in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. "The workout we did was in honor of the 343 Firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11," said instructor Kelly Boyle. "Basically the workout consisted of everyone doing a total 343 reps broken up among 8 different exercises with each rep in honor of a firefighter. I got the idea from a class I took the evening before and thought it was a great idea to really make the workout have a purpose." Columnist Christine MacKenzie takes a look at how our perspective has changed in the years since the tragedy.
This week marks the eleventh anniversary of the September 11 attacks. It’s hard to believe that so many years have passed since the events of that tragic day. Whether or not you are a parent it’s difficult to look back at that day and not think about how it has changed the lives of children all over America. The reality is that, as Americans, we all lost something on September 11, 2001. Countless families suffered tragic and unexpected losses. Those who weren’t touched personally still looked on in horror as fellow Americans lost their lives to the most shocking terrorist attack to ever take place. Since that day two wars have followed and many more heroes have lost their lives protecting us and preserving our freedom. The sad reality is …

Tewksbury commemorates the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001.
Sunday at the Tewksbury 9-11 Memorial next to the library, Tewksbury residents turned out to remember those we lost ten years ago. Those in attendance heard a touching speech by annual speaker Larissa Gay whose father Peter Gay was one of the Tewksbury resident who was killed in the events of 9/11. The fire and police departments commemorated the 10 year anniversary with a reading of the names of the 93 Massachusetts residents who were lost. Also present at the ceremony was a recent addition to the memorial, a four foot floor joist from the World Trade towers suspended from the ceiling of the memorial.

Where were you on the beautiful morning of September 11, 2001?
Today marks the 10th anniversary for the September 11, 2001 attacks on our country. I was debating to make this article about September 11th as I’m sure that’s going to be the majority of the news we’ll hear today but I felt compelled to write about it as well. So, where were you on the beautiful morning of September 11, 2001? I’m sure it is a memory that is engraved in your mind forever. I know I’ll never forget. September 11, 2001 was a Tuesday. I was a sophomore in college located in New Hampshire and was sleeping in because I didn’t have classes on Tuesdays. What woke me up early was my roommate coming bolting into our room to turn on the TV. She was just getting out of class when the first plane hit WTC Tower 1 at 8:46AM. When …
