Restaurant re-opens with a completely new look, featuring new furniture, fixtures and appliances and even new menu items.
Over the last 17 years Applebee’s Neighborhood Grille has become a familiar site in Tewksbury. Located on Route 38 at the junction of Route 495 it is one of those places that people are simply used to seeing every day. What many people don’t realize, however, is that, while Applebee’s still boasts the same friendly service and welcoming atmosphere that it’s famous for, it also has a whole new look that might surprise you. These days Applebee’s guests will still find themselves greeted with the smiling face they have come to expect but, at the same time, they will be “wowed” by a full front to back, inside and out renovation. General Manager Michael Calandrello could not be happier with his customer reactions. “It’s the ‘wow’ factor that …

Your friendly neighborhood editor thought -- for one, brief, shining moment -- that this week's mystery photo might be a real challenge. After all, two of the first three guesses that arrived were incorrect. Turns out, those were the only two incorrect guesses of the contest. We had 28 readers who correctly identified the photo as being part of the facade of Pets Plus on Main Street. Congratulations to all who guessed correctly. And a special congratulations for Peg Gould, whose name was selected at random from among the correct guessers to receive an Applebee's gift card.

Parent company selling off all 66 New England locations.
The Tewksbury Applebee's Neighborhood Bar and Grille is under new ownership. California-based Apple American Group LLC has purchased the restaurant, at 85 Main St., along with the other 65 Applebee's in New England from DineEquity in a $55 million deal. Local restaurant connects with national trivia program, giving patrons a chance for big cash prizes.
Twenty years ago, a "pub trivia contest" usually consisted of a few guys competing for bragging rights at their favorite watering hole. These days, trivia nights have become big business for restaurants and bars, helping to boost sales figures mid-week, when the crowds are normally more sparse. Recently, the manager of the Tewksbury Applebee's, Michael Calandrello, decided to take trivia night to a whole new level by signing on with World Tavern Trivia, an organization that gives trivia buffs a chance to compete for big cash prizes and test their skills against national competition. "Trivia's fun, I've always liked doing it," said Calendrello, who said he had been disappointed with how his trivia night was run last year. "We just searched…
