Applebee’s Interior Redesign Sports A Tewksbury Flavor

Restaurant re-opens with a completely new look, featuring new furniture, fixtures and appliances and even new menu items.

Over the last 17 years Applebee’s Neighborhood Grille has become a familiar site in Tewksbury. Located on Route 38 at the junction of Route 495 it is one of those places that people are simply used to seeing every day.  What many people don’t realize, however, is that, while Applebee’s still boasts the same friendly service and welcoming atmosphere that it’s famous for, it also has a whole new look that might surprise you. These days Applebee’s guests will still find themselves greeted with the smiling face they have come to expect but, at the same time, they will be “wowed” by a full front to back, inside and out renovation. Applebee's Sold, Renovations Planned

Parent company selling off all 66 New England locations.

The Tewksbury Applebee's Neighborhood Bar and Grille is under new ownership. California-based Apple American Group LLC has purchased the restaurant, at 85 Main St., along with the other 65 Applebee's in New England from DineEquity in a $55 million deal. The change will officially take place in November, according to Manager Michael Calandrello. DineEquity is the parent company for Applebee's and IHOP. On Tuesday, the Board of Selectmen approved the liquor license transfer associated with the sale of the Tewksbury restaurant. "Applebee's, in whatever form it's been, has been a good citizen of Tewksbury," said Todd Johnson, chairman of the Board of Selectmen. Atty. Applebee's Taking Trivia To a New Level (Video)

Local restaurant connects with national trivia program, giving patrons a chance for big cash prizes.

Twenty years ago, a "pub trivia contest" usually consisted of a few guys competing for bragging rights at their favorite watering hole. These days, trivia nights have become big business for restaurants and bars, helping to boost sales figures mid-week, when the crowds are normally more sparse. Recently, the manager of the Tewksbury Applebee's, Michael Calandrello, decided to take trivia night to a whole new level by signing on with World Tavern Trivia, an organization that gives trivia buffs a chance to compete for big cash prizes and test their skills against national competition.
