TMHS softball team runs winning streak to three straight.
When Tewksbury High softball coach Leo "Doc" DiRocco talks about this being a rebuilding year, he may be right. Sort of. So far this season, the only thing the Redmen have rebuilt is their reputation for being the top softball program in the Merrimack Valley Conference over the last decade. On Wednesday, Tewksbury continued its surprisingly strong start to the 2011 season by trouncing Billerica, 11-5, to run its record to 4-1 overall, 2-1 in the MVC. Senior right handed pitcher Kayla Benvenuto earned her fourth victory of the season, tossing six innings of three-hit ball while striking out six and walking only one. Benvenuto held Billerica off the scoreboard for the first four innings of the game, while the Redmen built a 7-0 lead. "Kayla …

Billerica tops TMHS, 60-34, In Holiday Tournament Finals.
For the first two quarters of Thursday night's championship game at the Billerica Holiday Tournament, it was difficult to tell which team was the experienced, high-scoring favorite and which team was the inexperienced underdog. Unfortunately for the Tewksbury High girls basketball team, the final two quarters made things perfectly clear. Leading by only eight at halftime, Billerica's senior -laden line-up outscored the youthful Redmen girls by a two-to-one margin in the second half and pulled away to a 60-34 victory that earned the host team the tournament's top trophy. "We played a real good first half, but Billerica showed up in the second half and Tewksbury didn't," said TMHS coach Mark Bradley. "We're a young team and they've got a lot…

Tewksbury could not take advantage of an extra man situation against Billerica Friday afternoon.
Ties are a funny thing in soccer. Some games you are happy to come out with a draw and other games they can be extremely frustrating and disappointing. Tewksbury coach Steven Levine was disappointed in the outcome Friday, as Billerica outplayed Tewksbury for much of the contest down a man due to a first-half player ejection. "We had a man advantage, basically the entire second half, and could not take advantage of it," said Levine. "We could not get the guys to do what we wanted them to do. (Billerica) played real tough with that man down. " Tewksbury would strike first, as Tyler McQuesten scored on a feed from senior Stefan Monteiro at the 26:52 mark in the first half. Billerica would answer at 38:00 minute mark tying the game at 1-1. …
