Barry claims vacant seat on Board of Health.
What was predicted to be a close race for a seat on the Shawsheen Tech School Committee turned into a rout. Incumbent Patricia Meuse swept all eight precincts, en route to a 1,605-982 win over challenger Rick O'Neill. Meuse admitted afterward that she had not been expecting a landslide win and was nervouse about the outcome, even as the first results were announced. "It was kind of nerve-racking," she said. "Even after we knew we had won the first six precincts, I kept saying, 'ok, but we need to win the other two.'" The victory gives Meuse a seventh term on the Shawsheen Tech School Committee. But since first being elected in 1995, this was just the second time she had faced a challenger for re-election. "To be honest, I kind of prefer …

Reed Updates selectmen on changes to CPA law.
The resignation of longtime Board of Health member Edward Sheehan has prompted the Board of Selectmen to make a change to the ballot in the upcoming Tewksbury Municipal Election. In his resignation letter, Sheehan said "unforeseen circumstances" forced him to step down. "It has been an honor to serve the Town of Tewksbury for the last 16 years," Sheehan wrote. "I want to thank those who have served on the board with me and most of all the citizens of Tewksbury." In light if Sheehan's resignation, selectmen voted unanimously at their Jan. 29 meeting to add a two-year Board of Health term to the ballot. The two years represent what is left on Sheehan's term. There are now three of five Board of Health seats up for grabs in the April election…

Brothers unseats Fernald for seat on the Board of Health
The votes have been counted and the people have spoken ... loudly. Question 1, which asked voters at Saturday's Municipal election to approve a $1.9 million debt exclusion to pay for expanded athletic complex proposal was soundly defeated by a 2-1 margin. The final vote total was 2914-1465 and the question was defeated in each of the town's eight precincts. Meanwhile, Selectmen Scott Wilson and David Gay easily won re-election, defeating challengers Bob Marcin and Ken Miano. Wilson, who has been an outspoken supporter of Question 1 and the field proposal, admitted to having mixed feelings Saturday night. "I'm disappointed, I'm not going to lie," said Wilson. To be honest I would have rather lost and have the field question pass. I really …

To The Editor: We are writing in support of Kathleen Brothers to the Tewksbury Board of Health (BOH). Kathleen Brothers is a lifelong resident of Tewksbury and has been an active participant in several Town functions. We have met Mrs. Brothers as the Warden of Precinct 2. We have found her to be effective in her position as Warden. During her assignment she has displayed unusual resourcefulness, technical knowledge of the rules during an election and the mature judgment in the timely resolution of the various situations that may arise during the election day. We believe that Kathleen will be a pro-active member of the Board of Health, we know that Kathleen Brothers is looking forward to working with the BOH members and to serve her …
