News Nearby: Man Revived After Heart Attack At Bruins Practice

Each week we take a look at the stories making headlines in neighboring Patch towns.

Man Revived During Bruins Practice in Wilmington Terry Gardner was at Ristuccia Arena with a few of his friends to watch the Boston Bruins take the ice for practice. But he was hard at work before long. Gardner was among the group of on and off duty emergency personnel who saved the life of a man who had a cardiac episode in the stands on Thursday morning. Bruins players, who had just taken the ice in Wilmington, took a knee along the boards in front of the benches and watch as several professionally trained first responders rushed into the stands and used a defibrillator to shock the man back to consciousness. Former Bruins participate in benefit hockey game for the Claddagh Fund.

Several former Boston Bruins, including Terry O'Reilly and Rick Middleton, visited the Breakaway Ice Center in Tewksbury earlier this month for a benefit hockey game. The event raised money for the Claddagh Fund, a fund established in 2009 by Ken Casey of the Dropkick Murphys. Middleton and O'Reilly served as guest players on one of the teams, while Bruins alums Bob Sweeney and Jay Miller skated for the opposition. Casey served as guest coach for one squad while current Bruin Shawn Thornton coached the other team. The event was sponsored by Basement Systems of Plaistow, NH. Editor Bill Gilman was on hand at the event and captured these images.

Bruins' Shawn Thornton, Dropkick Murphys in Tewksbury on Saturday

Charity hockey game at Breakaway Ice Center to benefit the Claddagh Fund.

Boston Bruins past and present, along with the rowdy Dropkick Murphys, will be on hand Saturday night at the Breakaway Ice Center, 10 Carter St., for a charity hockey game. The event, which starts at 6:30 p.m., will benefit the Claddagh Fund, a charity foundation set up by Ken Casey of the Dropkick Murphys back in 2009. According to fund's website (claddaghfund.org): "Honoring the three attributes of the Claddagh Ring, friendship, love and loyalty, the mission of the Claddagh Fund is to raise money for the most underfunded non-profit organizations that support vulnerable populations in our communities." Bruins' Chris Kelly To Host Playoff Party In Tewksbury

Stanley Cup champ to appear at The Sky Box Wednesday night.

Here’s your chance to meet 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Chris Kelly of the Boston Bruins and wish him luck in the playoffs as the Bruins try to repeat their Stanley Cup Championship. Kelly will be at The Sky Box, 553 Main St., with the event starting at 6 p.m. The event will raise money for the C2 Mission, which benefits children and families affected by Cerebral Palsy and Cystic Fibrosis. VIDEO: Bruins' Daniel Paille Greets Fans In Tewksbury

Event at The Sky Box serves as a fundraiser for the C2 Mission.

Forward Daniel Paille of the Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins was in Tewksbury Wednesday night to meet and greet fans. The event as a fundraiser at The Sky Box sports bar for the C2 Mission, a group that helps families dealing with Cystic Fibrosis and Cerebral Palsy. The event took place just one day before the Bruins kicked off their season against Philadelphia and raised their Stanley Cup banner to the rafters of the TD Garden. Editor Bill Gilman was also there and filed these photos and this video report.

Final Attendance Figures Announced for Stanley Cup Visit

Money raised given to two local charities helping families of servicemen killed in action.

The numbers are in and they are impressive. A total of 1,531 fans passed through the Tewksbury Country Club to see the Stanley Cup on Saturday, according to TCC Controller Kathy Bligh. At $10 per person, this means that $15,310 was raised for charity by the event. At the request of Boston Bruins Equipment Manager Keith Robinson, a Tewksbury native, the funds will go to the Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund and the Greg Hill Foundation, both of which assist the families of soldiers killed in action. Bligh said she estimates that there were another 1,500 fans in the parking lot of the TCC, who did not get to view the Cup in the TCC ballroom. UPDATED: Stanley Cup Is Coming To Tewksbury!

Cup will be brought to the Tewksbury Country Club.

UPDATED: Wednesday, 7 a.m. The symbol of the Boston Bruins first championship in nearly 40 years is coming to Tewksbury! The Stanley Cup will be at the Tewksbury Country Club on Saturday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a public viewing. According to TCC Controller Kathy Bligh, the country club has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with the Bruins, joining forces on several major charity events in the past. However, the decision to bring the Cup to Tewksbury belonged to Bruins' equipment manager Keith Robinson, a 1987 Tewksbury High graduate. Each member of the Stanley Cup Champion's staff, along with the players, gets the chance to spend one day with the Cup, taking it anywhere they would like to go. Robinson is bringing it to his …
