Superintendent of Schools Dr. John O'Connor has officially cancelled school in Tewksbury on Friday, Feb. 8 due to the predicted blizzard. Gov. Deval Patrick has ordered all non-essential vehicles off the roads by noon, Friday. Also, a reminder that a winter parking ban is in effect in Tewksbury to keep the roads clear for plows. Police say the school is clear and they know who wrote the note.
UPDATED: 11:45 A.M. The North Street School was evacuated this morning after a threatening note was found inside the building. Superintendent of Schools Dr. John O'Connor would not disclose the specifics of the note but did say it was found in a girls bathroom of the school. "The note was found by a student, who brought it to the office and they called police," he said. O'Connor said students werE evacuated to the Wynn Middle School as a precaution and that all measures were taken to ensure student safety, Police and Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, as well as the STARS regional emergency response team.
