Forget the Former Is Ready To Rock The Harp

New name, same commitment for Tewksbury band.

Sometimes small changes make a really big difference and for one Tewksbury band, Forget the Former, 2012 has been a year of reinventing, improving and building on their already solid reputation. A Tewksbury band may soon gets its first big break because Patch's Video Battle of the Bands is back and it is bigger and better than ever! The Video Battle of the Bands is a contest in which local bands will square off for musical supremacy. It's the chance of a lifetime for local musicians. This is a chance for you and your bandmates to show off your abilities as musicians and earn some terrific prizes. Tewksbury's "Breakthrough" won the 2011 Patch Video Battle of the Bands. But this year the challenge (and the rewards) are even bigger because we've expanded the contest to include the Merrimack Valley, North Shore, Greater Boston and South Shore!! Video Battle of the Bands

A Night of Music, Food and Fun

"Breakthrough" celebrates Tewksbury Patch Video Battle of the Bands victory with concert at TJ Callahan's.

"Breakthrough," a Tewksbury band made up of teens Dan Daley, Ben Hanson and Bobby Briggs, rocked a jam-packed TJ Callahan's Thursday night. It was a victory concert for the band, which won Tewksbury Patch's first Video Battle of the Bands. In addition to the gig, the band received Rock Star Makeovers from All About You Hair Salon, a $400 gift certificate from Tewksbury Music Center and three hours of recording studio time from The Space in Lowell. The concert and the contest were sponsored by Tewksbury Patch. Editor Bill Gilman and Ad Manager Anne Wakeman were on hand to capture these images and video clips.

'Breakthrough' Gets New Look For Tonight's Big Concert

Tewksbury Patch Video Battle of the Bands winners are ready to rock!

The battle is over and the results are in.  Breakthrough is the official winner of Patch’s first ever battle of then bands.  Of course, you can’t truly be a rock star without looking the part and that’s where being a Patch winner really comes in handy.  As part of their Patch Prize Package, Breathrough spent yesterday afternoon with the talented crew at “It’s all About You -- Hair Salon” getting their official rock star makeovers.  Made up of three 15-year-old boys, Ben Hanson, Bobby Briggs and Daniel Daley, Breathrough is a local favorite with a long history.  As singer, songwriter and guitarist Bobby explains, “Ben was born on Nov. 14, 1995 and I was born a day later at the same hospital.  We started planning then.”  While Bobby’s mom …

Just got back from the gig @ TJ Callahan's. Breakthrough really showed the talent they have to make them the winners of the best video & band contest. Incredible for such a young group. The songs were great. Especially Songs of the Past- unbelievable!!! The crowd went wild when they played a Beatle's favorite. The votes have been cast and the readers have spoken. "Breakthrough" and their original video "Songs of the Past" is the winner of the first Tewksbury Patch Video Battle of the Bands. Congratulations to Bobby Briggs, Ben Hanson and Daniel Daley! For their victory, "Breakthrough" will receive a $400 gift certificate to Tewkbury Music Center, Rock Star Makeovers from Touch of Elegance Salon and three hours of recording studio time from The Space in Lowell. In addition, the winners will be booked for live gig at TJ Callahan's on June 9 at 7 p.m. The concert is open to the public and Tewksbury Patch will be on hand with some nifty giveaways. Video Battle of the Bands

FINAL DAY to Vote in the Patch Video Battle of the Bands!

Three finalists vie for a prize package, including makeovers, music equipment and a booking.

The entries are in and three finalists have been chosen in the Tewksbury Patch Video Battle of the Bands! Bands submitted videos of themselves performing original songs. The finalists were chosen by Tewksbury Patch staff based on song quality, lyrics, performance and video quality. But the winner will be selected by you, the Tewksbury Patch readers. The three finalists represent diverse genres in music. The three videos are: Listen to the three videos and decide which one is your favorite.
