Police believe the trio was involved in at least four recent house breaks.
Tewksbury Police believe they have cracked a recent rash of home burglaries with the arrests of three local residents. William Medugno, 23, of 18 Pringle St, Tewksbury, Ryan Codner, 21, of 34 Cinnamon Cir, Tewksbury, and Catherine Bradley, 22, of 260 Pine Street, Tewksbury were all arrested on March 7 in connection with two burglaries on Pike Street, one on McNeil Way, one on Astle Street and another on Catherwood Road. According to Tewksbury Police Chief Timothy Sheehan, Medugno is charged with four counts of breaking and entering, attempted breaking and entering, three counts of larceny over $250, and conspiracy. Cars were broken into at several locations in South Tewksbury.
Police believe they have solved a recent string of car breaks that has businesses all along Route 38. Tewksbury officers arrested Joseph Arnold, 20, of 125 Salem St., Wilmington and Howard Hall, 20, of 2020 Main St., Tewksbury on Wednesday. The men are accused of breaking into several vehicles over the last few weeks. Arnold faces four counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, three counts of larceny over $250, and larceny under $250. Hall faces three counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, three counts of larceny over $250, and conspiracy. The new year brought with it a new rash of break-ins and attempted break-ins across Tewksbury. On Thursday, Jan. 3, a Chandler Street resident called police at 5:48 p.m. and reported that her home had been broken into. Officers responded and a report was filed. That same day, at 8:37 a.m., there was a report of stolen aluminum at Boutiette's Auto Body, 2115 Main St. A report was filed. At 12:08 p.m., also on Jan.3, a Charme Road resident called police to report that two of his grandchildren's sleds had been stolen some time overnight from their residence. A new rash of motor vehicle break-ins has struck another Tewksbury neighborhood. Over the weekend, car owners in a section of North Tewksbury were victimized, including residents living on Longmeadow Road, Hood Road and Cleghorn Lane. At 1:39 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, a Hood Road resident came into Police Headquarters to report a vehicle break-in. Later Sunday night, 9:45 p.m. a Longmeadow Road resident called Tewksbury Police to report that someone had broken into his vehicle during the day and had stolen his cell phone. While the officer was talking to that resident, a neighbor came out and reported that his vehicles had been broken into as well. Three residents were arrested for assault and battery in separate incidents over the Thanksgiving Weekend. On Saturday, Nov. 24, a woman called police at 1 a.m. and said she'd received a call from the victim of an assault. Based on information provided by the caller, police went to an address on Trull Brook Lane. After an investigation, Michael Fitzpatrick, 43, 53 Trull Brook Lane, was arrested and charged with assault and battery. Vehicle thefts plagued Stadium Plaza, 10 Main St., over the last week. It's not immediately known if the thefts are merely coincidence or are connected. On Tuesday, May 22, at around 3:30 p.m., a car was reported stolen from the parking lot at the plaza and four women had to be given courtesy transport. On Thursday, May 24, at 10:19 p.m., a 911 caller reported that their car had been stolen from the Stadium Plaza parking lot near the CVS. A Tewksbury Police officer was sent to the scene and a report was filed. While that officer was on the scene, he reported finding a possible stolen car that may have been dumped in the lot. Tewksbury man charged in connection with multiple break-ins, more arrests possible.
One man is under arrest and more suspects are being sought in connection with a string of home burglaries. According to Chief Timothy Sheehan, Tewksbury Police arrested Stephen Haffey, 24, of 634 Chandler St., on Tuesday and charged him with seven counts of breaking and entering, seven counts of larceny over $250 and conspiracy. Sheehan said Tewksbury Police detectives were able to determine Haffey broke into several homes in Tewksbury as well as homes in Andover, Tyngsboro and Acton. Haffey worked for Yankee Pest Control out of Malden, and investigators also believe may have been stealing items from people while servicing the homes. The Police Department's efforts to combat burglaries in the community continued Monday with a raid on a hotel room in North Tewksbury. Detectives, acting on evidence that had been recovered during a Billerica Police Department arrest on Saturday, were able to obtain a search warrant Monday for Room 314 at the Extended Stay America, 1910 Andover St. What they found was a room filled with numerous pieces of jewelry and electronics. Some of the items recovered have been connected to house breaks in Tewksbury and other local communities. Instead, Sheehan is encouraging residents to participate in the TPD's first Prescription Drug Takeback program on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Police Headquarters at 918 Main St. In a press release, Sheehan described the program as, "opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs." 17-year-old suspect caught allegedly leaving the scene of a home burglary.
A Tewksbury teen is facing multiple charges after he was allegedly caught leaving the scene of a burglary Wednesday afternoon. Police, responding to a house alarm at 755 North St. at 2:30 p.m., spotted Jonathan Whitcomb, 17, allegedly sneaking out of the home. He was quickly apprehended. According to Police Chief Tim Sheehan, officers also learned at the scene that Whitcomb was responsible for breaking into two vehicles at the Residence Inn on Andover Street. A search of Whitcomb’s residence uncovered stolen property from those incidents, said police.
