Victim Clings To Life After Salem Road Accident

Residents say speeding has been a problem on Salem Road.

Local and State Police continue to investigate the cause of an accident that has left a 61-year-old Tewksbury man clinging to life in a Boston Hospital. According to a source with knowledge of the situation, the victim is on life-support in the Intensive Care Unit at Boston Medical Center. "It's a very difficult situation for everyone," said the source, who asked that their name not be used, because they are not authorized to speak officially about the case. According to Tewksbury Police, the accident took place at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The victim was struck as he crossed Salem Street in the vicinity of Country Road. I deliver newspapers on salem and both ends of south street. I constantly get beeped at for going the speed limit. Last week I was taking a left on mississippi and a car passed me on my left as I was turning left. If I hadn't pulled back in time, i would have been done. Man Seriously Injured When Struck By Car On Salem Road

State Police investigating cause of accident.

State Police are investigating the cause of an accident on Salem Road Tuesday night that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries. The victim, identified only as a 67-year-old man, was walking along Salem Road near the Wilmington town line just before 6:30 p.m. when he was struck by a car driven by a 24-year-old female. According to a Wilmington Police officer at the scene, the driver struck the man, continued about 50 yards and stopped. The victim sustained a serious head injury and other injuries as a result of the accident and a medflight was requested, according to a Tewksbury Police report. I hope the pedestrian is OK, and also the driver as the witness said she as well was traumatized. I lived in South Tewksbury for many years and was actually stopped by the police for going 32 mph on that road, just 2 miles over the speed limit. I traveled that road to work every day and it's a very windey road but I was always aware it was policed aggresively. Maybe things changed due to reduced …   more ›

Pedestrian Struck by Car, Main Street Closed

Victim sustains serious injuries.

A portion of Main Street near Salem Road has been shut down after a pedestrian was struck by a car this evening. The accident took place around 6:20 p.m. at 2144 Main St. According to Emergecy Alerts, the victim sustained serious injuries and is being Med-Flighted from the grounds of Tewksbury Hospital to an area hospital treatment. There is no immediate word on when Main Street will be re-opened to traffic.

Middlesex County Sheriff's Officer Killed in Single-Car Crash

The single-car crash happened Wednesday at 4 a.m. on Treble Cove Road in Billerica. The name of the driver has not been released.

Middlesex County Sheriff's employee Edward “Teddy” Dillon III, 27 of Lowell, was killed in a crash in Billerica this morning. Dillon was a member of the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office since 2008. Dillon worked the midnight to 8 a.m. shift at the Middlesex House of Correction in Billerica. His job included conducting routine perimeter checks of the facility and nearby Middlesex Sheriff’s Office property. The Sheriff's office issued the following statement: “My thoughts and prayers, as well as those of the entire Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, go out to Officer Dillon’s family, friends and colleagues. Break-in Investigated; Accident Sends Woman To The Hospital

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

One person was seriously injured Monday in a single-car accident near the Route 38 Cafe in South Tewksbury. According to scanner transmissions, the victim, identified only as a female, lost consciousness after her vehicle struck a tree. Tewksbury Police, Fire and Ambulance crews responded to the scene. Due to the nature of the injuries, a Saints Medical Center paramedic crew was also called to the scene. The victim was then transported to Saints for treatment. Her condition is not known. Tewksbury man arrested in connection with Quincy burglary.

A Billerica man is facing allegations that he assaulted his elderly father. Police responded to a call from a resident who said he had just been assaulted by his adult son. The alleged victim told officers that the man had just left in a gray Nissan SUV. Tewksbury officers called Billerica Police and informed them of the situation. Billerica Police located the man at his residence and detained him. Anthony J. Gird, 49, of 54 Allendale Ave., Billerica is charged with a assault and battery on a person aged 60 and over. TEWKSBURY - Jeffrey Granados Jaimes, age 19, a member of the Massachusetts National Guard, died Monday morning, Mat 23, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident early Sunday morning. He was born in Cambridge, January 5, 1992, the beloved son of Esteban and Sandra (Granados) Jaimes. He was raised in Tewksbury, and was a member of Shawsheen Vocational Technical High School's Class of 2010. He was accepted to enter the Criminal Justice Program at Salem State College in September. He enlisted into the Massachusetts National Guard, and had completed Basic Training at Ft. Bliss in Oklahoma, Transportation Training in Missouri, and the Military Honors Program in Milford, MA. A 27-year-old New Hampshire man faces multiple charges after allegedly assaulting officers at Tewksbury Police Headquarters. Timothy P. McCann, of 34 Lowe St. in Derry, NH, is charged with two counts of assault and one count of resisting arrest. According to information provided by the TPD, the incident began around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, when a 911 caller said she saw a man, possibly intoxicated, walking along Kendall Street. Officers responded to the scene and talked to the McCann. An officer gave him a courtesy ride to the Mobil On The Run and then another courtesy ride back to Kendall Street.
