Redmen Roundup: Tewksbury Sweeps Methuen In Track Openers

Redmen runners start the spring season with a sweep.

Boys Track Tewksbury 81.5 - Methuen 54.5 The Redmen came racing out of the gates, led by Cory Cataldo, who won the 400 intermediate hurdles and triple jump and placed second in the long jump. The Redmen throwers also had an excellent day, sweeping the javelin and the discus and taking second and third in the shot. John Fiorello led the way, winning the javelin and placing second in the discus. "Overall great meet, I knew Methuen had a great distance crew, but we did not know how we matched up everywhere else," said TMHS Coach Bill Meuse. Redmen Roundup: Lucky 7 For Conway, Girls Hockey

Girls Basketball whips Melrose to reach St. Mary's Tournament final.

Girls Hockey Tewksbury/Methuen 9, Waltham 4 With 34 goals through her first 16 games, Tewksbury/Methuen sophomore forward Amanda Conway was having a pretty amazing season. And then came this. Conway scored seven goals on Saturday, leading the Red Rangers to a 9-4 win over Waltham High. The victory improved the Red Rangers' record to 7-7-3 on the season and kept their hopes for a berth in the State Tournament alive. Tewksbury/Methuen closes out its regular season on Tuesday against Concord-Carlisle, needing a win or a tie to reach the post-season. Kelly Golini had two goals and an assist in the win over Waltham. Hayley Sutherland added three assists, while Riley Cote, Haley McCarthy and Kathleen Lefebvre had two assists each. Girls …

Redmen Roundup: Boys Track Team Clinches League Championship

Girls hockey falls short against Waltham.

Boys Track Tewksbury 63, Lawrence 23 The Tewksbury High boys track team clinched the MVC Small School Championship Wednesday by routing Lawrence High, 63-23. The Redmen claimed seven first place finishes in the meet and swept the top three spots in the high hurdles, the mile and the two-mile. "It's an absolute credit to the seniors. After losing so many close meets last year, the kids did not want it to happen again and they have worked so hard to be on the other side of those scores and it has paid off," said Coach Bill Meuse. "This team is a tight knit group and we have something good going on here, I hope that some people take notice and want to be a part of a great track program." Fab Four Capture Gold For TMHS Girls Track Team

TMHS girls team takes fourth overall, boys take fifth at MVC League Meet.

Two of Tewksbury High's grande dames went out in style and two new stars emerged as league champions as the TMHS girls track team captured four individual championships and one relay title at the Merrimack Valley Conference Championship Meet at Andover High School Thursday evening. Senior sprinter Sarah Hogan shook off adversity and captured her first ever league title with an electrifying win in the 100 meter dash, while super speedster Jess Bridle added the 200 meter championship to her lengthy list of accomplishments. Meanwhile, sophomores Kelly Quigley and Sara Semenza each earned their first career MVC Championship gold medals; Quigley by winning the 400 meter hurdles title and Semenza by capturing the 400 meter dash title.
