The Board of Health and the Council on Aging will host their 5th Annual Health Fair on Wednesday, May 1, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. The Health Fair will have something for the whole family. There will be free screenings, informational booths, massages, kids activities and refreshments. The Lion’s eye-mobile will also be present and conducting tests. This year we had such a great response from vendors. It should be a great take and it all free! Seniors are reminded that the Friends & COA will hold a Volunteer Event at the Senior Center on Saturday, May 4th. The guest speaker will be Virginia Desmond, RN, CNP. Openings still available for the Friends of the Seniors Golf Tournament.
A new exercise program will begin this Friday, September 7th. The class will be called “Tune Up -Get Down” and will concentrate on upper body weights and moving to music with lots of fun. This introductory class will be free this first week. The class will be held every Friday mornings from 9:00 to 9:45 AM. The following trips and events are taking place in September: On Sunday, October 21st – The fantastic Edwards Twins Celebrity Impersonator Show back by popular demand. Tickets are now on sale at $55 per person and include a buffet luncheon. A pleasant week is wished to all. God Bless America.

Lu Bonanno began a “Girl Talk” group last Thursday. The group meets from 10 to 11:30 each Thursday morning to discuss the changing issues that accompanying the aging process and life itself. Why not give “Girl Talk” a try? This group is open to the public. A very special note of thanks to all those volunteers who helped set-up and break down for the Edwards Twins show that took place this past Friday. The show was awesome; and, Anthony and Eddie will be back in the fall. Watch for details. Sign-up for the Foxwood day trip of April 12th will take place next Monday, March 19th beginning at 8:15 AM. The Silver Tones will hold a dance this Friday, September 16th from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door at $10 per person. Refreshments are served mid evening and the attire is casual. Results of the Mary Ann Wareham Golf Connections will be noted in next week’s column. The Senior Center “Annual Afternoon Tea” will be held this coming Sunday, September 18th at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $10 per person and should be purchased prior to the event. Benefit golf tournament scheduled for Monday.
The Friends of the Elderly will hold a dance this Friday, September 9that the Senior Center from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Entertainment will be provided by the Fred Manzi Band. Tickets are now available at $10 per person and may also be purchased at the door. Town 9-11 Ceremonies will be held on Sunday, September 11th beginning at 8:46 with a procession from the Town Common to the Pavilion Memorial on Main Street.
