Candidates have a little over two weeks left to return nomination papers.
It's always the prerogative of a politician to change his mind ... even when it comes down to running for office. After telling friends for months that he absolutely was "done" as a member of the Board of Health, Chairman Phil French has taking out nomination papers seeking re-election to another three-year term. He joins fellow incumbent Christine Kinnon and challenger James M. Killion in the race for two 3-year slots on the board. Kinnon has already returned her nomination papers and is on the ballot. In the meantime, the Board of Health will have at least one new member, after Ed Sheehan announced his resignation last week. Now, a special two-year slot will be added to the ballot to fill the remaining years on Sheehan's term. No one has…

Machine repaired after memory card fails. Ballots have to be re-entered by hand.
It wouldn't be a major election without a technical glitch of some type. Voting was slowed at the Tewksbury Library this morning when the ballot machine for Precinct 4 stopped functioning and would not accept ballots. According to Town Clerk Denise Graffeo, a memory card in the machine failed and would not allow ballots to be accepted. Graffeo said she contacted with the company that supplies the machines and they walked her through the process of replacing the memory card. While this was done, voters had to place their ballots in an auxiliary basket. Once the machine was repaired all of the ballots cast so far had to be removed from the machine and re-submitted by hand, by an election worker, for the new memory card. The ballots that had …

Reader wants to know where the fee money goes.
Question: Does the Town Clerk keep all the money on the sales of Dog, Fishing & Hunting Licenses or does the money go to the town? I had heard that the Town Clerk in Tewksbury keeps the proceeds on the licenses that I have stated above. If she does, why doesn't the money go to the Town of Tewksbury which is in desperate need of money to cover our expenses. Also, if she does, who voted on why that is happening? Answer: We went directly to Town Clerk Denise Graffeo to answer this question and she provided the following response: "100 percent of the funds collected for the sale of Dog Licenses goes directly to the Town. I do not receive any stipend. We no longer issued Sporting licenses, as they are now available online," said Graffeo.
