the sewer system has power issues. If we have an extended power outage some of the sewage pumps will not operate. the more of us on sewage the greater the chance of backups into our homes. more flow will require all pumps to have emergency power for those times when we loose power for a few hours/days...currently some do not have these generators for outages. being on sewage is good , but can …   more ›

I love how East street was repaved DIRECTLY infront of Market Basket but their trucks use and destroy the WHOLE road!! Repave IT!! How many other people have had to spend money getting their vehicles fixed because of driving on that road? Because I have and I'm sick of it. I shouldn't be forced to drive miles out of my way to get out of this town. Also with all the money being spent on the water …   more ›

Montuori Proud Of Town's Response To Hurricane Sandy

Early planning, extra staffing paid dividends.

Hurricane Sandy came through the region as advertised. High winds mixed with occasionally heavy rain combined to take down trees from one end of town to the other on Monday. On many streets, such as Fiske Street, East Street, Chandler Street, Woburn Street, Brook Street, South Street and Dirlam Circle, the trees brought down power lines with them. More than 2,500 National Grid customers lost power at some point during the storm and more than 1,300 were still in the dark as of Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Town Manager Richard Montuori said he believes National Grid is aiming to have 100 percent power restored by tonight. On other roads, such as Henry J. Drive and Pike Street, the wires were safe but falling trees blocked the roadway. Police …

I don't have much hope that the power will be back 100% by this evening. I just wish National Grid would provide realistic time frames. If it's going to be a day or two just fess up & say so instead of constantly saying we don't have any information to provide you. If it's going to be extended, I'll pack up myself, my husband, son & 2 dogs & go stay somewhere else but if it's a few hours I'll …   more ›

Brown Street/Whipple Road Bridge To Re-Open Next Week

State ready to complete project several weeks ahead of schedule.

When work on the project began in April, the state was projecting a completion target date of Oct. 31. At that time, the design work was already completed and the remaining work was estimated to carry a $240,000 price tag. The state …
