Several Domestic Assault Arrests Over Super Bowl Weekend

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

National statistics indicate that, for a variety of reasons, Super Bowl weekend has the highest rate for domestic violence in the United States. Such was the case this past weekend as Tewksbury Police made several arrests for domestic assault and battery. Additional arrests: John R. Griffin, 23, 7 Woodside Ave., Wilmington, was arrested on Feb. 4 and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle. Vincent M. Querci, 18, Wilmington, was arrested on Feb. 2 and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle. Brock A. Friedman, 35, 2 Newton Ave., Tewksbury, was arrested on Feb. 3 and chaged with Possession of a Class A Drug and Possession of a Class B Drug. Christine M. Gikonyo, 39, of 95 Andrews St., Lowell, was arrested on Feb. 2and charged with false …

Domestic Disturbances Lead To Two Assault Arrests

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A pair of domestic disturbances this week resulted in the arrests of two men on assault and battery charges. On Tuesday, July 17, a woman called 911 at 12:42 a.m. to report that she had just been hit by her "ex" and that he was trying to take things out of her house that didn't belong to him. Three Tewksbury Police officers responded to the scene and found the man outside the home. After a brief investigation, Vito Lomagno, 57, of 7 James Road, Methuen, was placed under arrest and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. On Monday, July 16, an employee at Extended Stay America, 1910 Andover St., called police to report a domestic disturbance in progress. The employee said a woman was screaming at a man to leave. Domestic Assault Arrest; Man Allegedly Defecates On Lawn

Domestic assault arrest On Saturday, July 7, at 2:15 a.m., a woman called 911 to report that a male, known to her, had just punched her in the face. Three officers responded to the home and found the suspect outside. Howard R. Hall, 19, 2020 Main St., was arrested and charged with assault and battery. This week's edition of, "It's believed alcohol was involved." Around 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, an Oak Street resident called 911 to report that a man had come by his home looking for the home's previous resident. Further more, the caller alleged that the man had just defecated on his lawn. The caller said the man appeared to be drunk. Mailboxes, Street Signs Destroyed In Vandalism Spree

Police are looking for the person or people responsible for destroying several mailboxes and street signs in a Tewksbury neighborhood over the weekend. According to a Tewksbury Police report, a resident of Mitchell G Drive discovered the damage when he left his home to work on Sunday just before 7 a.m. The man told police he saw numerous mailboxes along the street had been destroyed sometime overnight. He also reported that the street sign for Starr Avenue and a stop sign had been completely ripped out of the ground. An officer was sent to the scene and confirmed the report. Tewksbury Man Indicted For Assaulting Girlfriend, Torching Her Car

Suspect allegedly tossed Molotov cocktails into woman's car.

A Tewksbury man has been indicted on charges alleging that he assaulted his girlfriend, violated a restraining order, and threw two Molotov cocktails at her car.  According to a press release issued by District Attorney Gerry Leone, Carlo Huacon, 24, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60, stalking in violation of a restraining order, destruction of property over $250, violation of an abuse prevention order (3 counts), assault and battery, possession of an infernal machine (4 counts), and burning personal property. Tewksbury Teen Faces Sex Abuse Charges In Medford

Woman arrested after throwing dishes out her front door.

A 19-year-old Tewksbury man faces nine charges stemming from alleged sexual abuse of a minor in the town of Medford, according to that town's police log. Thomas Hutchinson of 2273 Main St. in Tewksbury is charged with statutory rape, prostitution/unlawful sex, two counts of distributing obscene matter, carrying a dangerous weapon, lascivious nude posing of a child, enticing a child under 16, extortion by threat of injury and witness intimidation. Hutchinson turned himself in to police at the Medford Police Station at  about 11 a.m. Friday. Lowell Man Indicted For Allegedly Trying To Murder Girlfriend at Motel

Grand Jury also indicts two on multiple drug charges.

(Editor's Note: The following indictments were handed down this month by the Middlesex County Grand Jury.) A Middlesex County Grand Jury has handed down an nine-count indictment against a 25-year-old Lowell man in connection with a brutal assault on his girlfriend in a room at the Motel Caswell in May. Hector Rivera is being charged with attempted murder, four counts of assault and battery, two counts of malicious destruction of property over $250, intimidation of a witness, and violation of an abuse prevention order. The announcement was made in a press release by the Office of District Attorney Gerry Leone. The ADA assigned to the case is Lisa McGovern. Fight in Police Department Parking Lot Leads to Arrest

Two reports of trash pickers in a residential neighborhood.

Police didn't have far to go to respond to a domestic disturbance Tuesday night. It occured in the parking lot of Police Headquarters. Around 9:30 p.m., Det. O'Neil reported a domestic incident in progress in the parking lot. Several officers responded immediately. The altercation was quelled and one person was arrested. Lisa Renzullo, 46, 295 Marshall St., Tewksbury, was charged with assault and battery. Trash pickers go a little too far Just after noon on Tuesday, a resident at 31 Veranda Ave. called police that two males in a white pickup were going through his trash. UPDATED: New Details Emerge From Hotel Assault

Lowell man is charged with aggravated assault and attempted murder.

UPDATED: Tuesday, 6 p.m. A 25-year-old Lowell man allegedly mocked his girlfriend as he choked her to the brink of unconsciousness Sunday morning in a Tewksbury motel. Hector Rivera was arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault and battery. According to a press release issued by Police Chief Timothy Sheehan, officers responded to the Motel Caswell after receiving a 911 call from a desk clerk. The employee told the officers he had heard screaming and crying coming from Room 252. When the officers entered the room, they found a female victim, "crying, shaking and, at first, unable to speak."
