Two Arrested, Six Pounds Of Marijuana Confiscated Outside Motel

Traffic stop leads to drugs arrests.

Two people, including an Oakland, Calif. man, were arrested on Wednesday after allegedly conducting a drug deal involving six pounds of marijuana at a local motel. Chandy Yern, 33, 36 Grove St., Lowell, is charged with Possession with the intent to distribute a Class D substance (marijuana), Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Law, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License and Failure to Signal. Rith Hov, 40, 1332 E 26th Street Oakland, Calif., is charged with Distributing a Class D  substance (marijuana) and Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Law. Traffic Stop Leads To Three Arrests On Multiple Drug Charges

What started out as a routine traffic stop near Applebee's ended with the arrest of two men and a woman on multiple drug and motor vehicle charges. A Tewksbury Police officer pulled over the suspect's vehicle, an SUV, just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, due to revoked insurance. The vehicle was driven by Leonardo F. Aponte Jr., 26, of 648 Boston Road, Billerica. A computer check of Aponte found that both his license and registration had also been revoked. He was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a license that had been revoked as a Habitual Traffic Offender, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. Severed Finger, DrugBust at IHOP and a Fiery Moon Top Police Log

Police Dispatch received a 911 call Sunday morning (Dec. 30) reporting that a man had severed his finger in a snowblower accident. The call came in at 10:33 a.m. from a residence on Chester Street. Full emergency medical response was dispatched to the scene. The man was rushed by ambulance to Lahey Medical Center in Burlington. There was no immediate word on his condition or if the finger was able to be reattached. Drug arrests in IHOP parking lot An officer working a detail at Motel 6 requested a cruiser early Saturday (Dec. 29) after seeing suspicious activity in a vehicle in the parking lot of the IHOP restaurant. Tewksbury Police Win Two More Battles In War on Drugs

Two alleged dealers face charges; Oxycodone, crack, heroin seized.

The Tewksbury Police Department continued to wage a determined war on local drug trafficking with two more arrests on Wednesday. Benjamin Torres-Ramos, 30, of 247 Salem St, 3rd Floor, Lawrence, was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute a class B substance (crack and cocaine) subsequent offense, and possession with the intent to distribute a class A substance (heroin). The arrest came after Tewksbury Police Detectives stopped Torres-Ramos' vehicle around 3 p.m. for a motor vehicle violation on South Street.  After speaking to Torres-Ramos, detectives suspected Torres-Ramos was involved in drug activity and called in Police K-9 Geox to search his vehicle. Truck Break-In Leads to Drug Bust

Tewksbury Police Officers investigation a break-in involving a tractor -trailer wound up arresting two individuals on drug charges at the Motel 6. Samuel Velez, 42, of 815 Dright St., Holyoke and Nicole Gonzalez, 25, 12 Twombley Ave., Billerica, were arrested late Monday night in Room 121 at the motel. The suspects were arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court. Both are charged with possession of a Class A substance with intent to distribute, possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute and being present where heroin was being kept. Both pled 'not guilty'. Velez was ordered held on $4,000 cash bail. Gonzalez was held on $2,000 cash bail and her bail was revoked on two unrelated cases, according to an article appearing in …

Drug Bust, More Mailbox Vandalism Top Police Log

The keen eyes and instincts of Tewksbury Police officer led to a dug arrest Wednesday morning. The officer was on routine patrol just after 10 a.m. when he spotted a suspicious vehicle lingering near Anton's Cleaners on Shawsheen Street. The officer called for backup and approached the driver of the vehicle. After an investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Nicholas M. Gys, 24, of 180 Holyrood Ave., Lowell, was placed under arrest. He is charged with two counts of possession of a Class E substance, possession of a Class B substance and receiving stolen property in excess of $250. Lawrence Couple Arrested For Possession Of Drugs And Stun Gun

Good instincts by a Tewksbury Police officer led to the arrest of a pair of Lawrence residents on drug charges, Friday evening (July 20). The officer spotted car in the parking lot of the Motel Caswell and determined the occupants were acting suspiciously. With a second officer at the scene as backup, the officer approached the vehicle. After a brief investigation, drugs and a weapon were found in the car and both occupants, a man and a woman, were arrested. Mariano Barrera, 48, 167 Salem Road, Lawrence, is charged with possession of a Class B substance and possession of an electronic stun gun. Man Arrested After Trying To Climb Through Girl's Bedroom Window

A Tewksbury man is facing charges after he allegedly attempted to break into the home of a neighbor. Teddy Gachie, 20, 6102 Archstone Ave., was charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime with the intent to commit a felony. According to a Tewksbury Police report, dispatch received a call from another Archstone Avenue resident at around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 1. The caller said a man had just tried to break into her home by trying to climb through her daughter's window. The caller, who was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect, said that before fleeing the scene, the man had told her daughter that he lived there. Motel Caswell owner feels Department of Justice is over-stepping its authority in trying to seize the property.

For two years, Russ Caswell has been back on his heels, defending himself against allegations by the Department of Justice that, for years, he knowingly allowed drug trafficking to go on at the Motel Caswell. Now he’s fighting back. Three people narrowly escaped injury early Saturday morning when the car they were riding in burst into flames along Route 495. State Police reported the incident, which took place around 4:45 a.m. on the southbound side of the highway, just past Exit 39. According to the report, the car was fully involved by the time officers arrived on the scene. No injuries were reported. The three people who escaped the car were given courtesy transportation to I-HOP.
