Tewksbury Man Sentenced To Prison For Drug Distribution

Defendant was dealing drugs out of his Tewksbury home.

A Tewksbury man will spend the next two-and-a-half years behind bars after pleading guilty to multiple drug charges this week in Woburn Superior Court. According to Tewksbury Police, Salvatore Matranga, 45, was sentenced to 30 months in jail for possession with intent to distribute a class B substance. When he is released from prison, Matranga will serve another five years of probation (including mandatory drug testing) on additional charges of possession with intent to distribute a class B substance (2 counts), possession with intent to distribute a class C substance, and possession with intent to distribute a class E substance. The charges against Matranga, stemmed from his arrest by Tewksbury Police July 12, 2010, for drug trafficking …

Tewksbury Man, 5 Others Sentenced For Selling Drugs At VA Hospital

Distribution of illegal narcotics involved several substances.

(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by the office of the U.S. Attorney in Boston.) The final defendant, charged last year with five others, has been sentenced for his role in distributing controlled substances at the VA Medical Center in Bedford. Steven Jakaitis, 50, of Lowell, was sentenced today by Judge Richard Stearns to 15 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. In July 2012, Jakaitis pleaded guilty to distribution of buprenorphine and conspiracy to distribute oxycodone. In January 2012, Jakaitis was charged along with David DeJesus, 52, of Lowell; Scott Houtchens, 50, of Lowell; David Porterfield, 45, of Saugus; David Robson, 53, of Tewksbury; and Allen Nickerson, 52, of Dorchester…

Traffic Stop Leads to Trafficking Arrest

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Obeying the speed limit is a good idea -- especially if you're carrying a substantial amount of drugs and you're already wanted on outstanding charges. Tewksbury Police pulled over Joseph Szulewski, 22, of 700 Merrimack St, Apt 2R, Lowell, at around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning (Dec. 4) or speeding. But  Szulewski didn't walk away with just a ticket. When the officer has Szulewski's name run through the computer, it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant from Somerville District Court for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. Then, while conducting a search of Szulewski’s property, police discovered approximately 70 grams of Marijuana. Couple Arrested For Selling Coke Outside Home Depot

Tewksbury Police Department ramps up efforts to combat drug trafficking.

The Tewksbury Police Department's efforts to stop drug trafficking in town took another step forward Monday night with the arrests of a man and woman selling drugs out of their car in the parking lot of Home Depot. Peter E. Surette IV, 27, of 19 Hancock Circle, Methuen, was arrested and charged with Distribution of a Class B Substance (Cocaine), Possession of a Class B substance (Cocaine), Possession of a Class A Substance (Heroin) and Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substance Act.  Jennifer E.
