The action apparently did not completely stop after law enforcement arrested a shooting suspect, holed up at the Motel 6 Sunday night, Sept. 2. Around 7:30 p.m., Andover State Police reported that a driver said he had been sideswiped on I-93 by an extended blue van driven by a law enforcement officer. According to the driver that was struck, the other driver got out of his vehicle and told him he was going to send him a ticket. According to the report, Deputy Chief John Voto spoke with a representative from SWAT, who was able to identify the officer involved. According to the repot, SWAT will be taking care of the incident. A 15-year-old is facing charges of theft, after he allegedly pilfered a reptile from a local pet store. An employee of Pets Plus on Route 38 called Tewksbury Police at around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25 and reported that about 90 minutes earlier, a teenager had walked out of the store with an iguana. The police report did not indicate why the call came so long after the alleged crime. Officers responded to the scene and were able to track down the teen nearby. He was charged with larceny and the iguana was returned to the store. Worcester man was arrested in Tewksbury in June.
A habitual drunk driver will be facing felony charges in Lowell Superior after being indicted by a Middlesex County grand jury for his 6th OUI offense. Steven Letellier, 38, of Worcester, was arrested by State Police on I-93 in Tewksbury. At the time, he was held without bail after a district court judge deemed him to be a danger to society. In addition to OUI-Liquor (3rd of subsequent offense), Lettelier is charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (3rd or subsequent offense) and operating a motor vehicle after his license had been suspended for drunk driving, according to a press release from the office of District Attorney Gerry Leone. Lettelier's earliest OUI-liquor conviction came in 1995.

The Tewksbury Police Department today announced it will join 128 other law enforcement agencies statewide in support of an intensive crackdown on impaired driving from August 15 to September 3 as part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization, funded by a federal grant administered through the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Highway Safety Division (EOPSS-HSD). A 26-year Amesbury woman is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly stealing more than $10,000 in jewelry from a home in Tewksbury. Leanne Maniscalco, of 34 Sparhawk Drive, was arrested Monday night, Aug. 13, in Amesbury and arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court. She is charged with breaking and entering in the daytime with the intent to commit a felony and larceny in excess of $10,000. Tewksbury Police believe Maniscalo let herself into the home of a family member by using a spare key and made off with the jewelry while the family member was away on vacation. A drunk driving suspect learned the hard way this week that is doesn't matter what type of motorized vehicle you are operating, driving is still driving. Just after 5:31 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, an employee of the Pushcart restaurant called police to report a patron had just left there and appeared to be drunk. The employee said the man drove away on a blue moped. Two Tewksbury Police units responded to the scene and pulled over the moped, driven by Anthony J. Manfredi, 49, 213 Elizabeth Drive, Dracut. A Tewksbury man is facing drunk driving charges after allegedly causing a two-car accident on Shawsheen Street this week. Russell Winter, 78, of 70 Franklin St., was arrested after rescue crews and Tewksbury Police responded to the accident, which took place at 9:41 p.m. on Thursday, July 26. According to the police report, several 911 calls reported the accident, which took place near 1101 Shawsheen St. Damage to one of the vehicles was more severe than the other and had to be towed. Good instincts by a Tewksbury Police officer led to the arrest of a pair of Lawrence residents on drug charges, Friday evening (July 20). The officer spotted car in the parking lot of the Motel Caswell and determined the occupants were acting suspiciously. With a second officer at the scene as backup, the officer approached the vehicle. After a brief investigation, drugs and a weapon were found in the car and both occupants, a man and a woman, were arrested.
