LETTER: Veterans Day Celebration Was Truly A Community Effort

Organizer thanks dozens of volunteers and businesses that played a part.

To the Editor:  On behalf of the Friends of the Tewksbury Patriotic Activities Committee, I would like to thank all of those (listed below) who donated raffles to our Veterans Day Celebration, which was held on November 18, 2011 at the Tewksbury Country Club.  In addition, I would like to thank the Tewksbury Fire Department Color Guard for presenting the colors during a tribute our WWII Veterans of Tewksbury.  Finally, I would like to thank all of the hard working members of the Friends of the PAC and most especially Karen Hodgson, Diane Reppucci, Tania Sullivan and Ann Gerry who did a wonderful job in setting up and presenting all of the raffle items. PHOTOS: Veterans Day Fundraiser At The Tewksbury Country Club

Event is one of the major fundraisers for the Friends of the Patriotic Activities Committee.

It was a boisterous night of music and dancing on Nov. 18 at the Tewksbury Country Club. The Friends of the Patriotic Activity Committee sponsored the event, which serves as one of the major fundraisers for the group. The FOPAC helps to pay for community events such as the Fourth of July Fireworks display and the Memorial Day Parade. Editor Bill Gilman attended the event and captured these photos.

VFW To Host Comedy Night To Benefit FOPAC

Second annual event to be hosted by Steve Bjork.

The venue will be different and the laughs will be fresh but the cause remains the same. The Tewksbury VFW, 87 Vernon St., will play host to the second annual Steve Bjork and Friends Comedy Night on Saturday, Sept. 24. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. The event is being organized to benefit the Friends of the Patriotic Activities Committee. FOPAC, a non-profit organization made up of local volunteers, raises money each year to fund community activities such as the Fourth of July Fireworks and the Memorial Day Parade. "The money we need to raise each year is about $30,000," said Jerry Selissen, president of FOPAC. "It can be a real challenge. We usually do about four of these events a year.
