Monday, 6:00 pm I picked my first vine ripened tomatoes of the season. Man did they taste good. Nothing like those hybrid gas house tomatoes you buy in the super market. Amazing fruit those tomatoes, yes they are a fruit, actually scientifically classified as a berry. Of course that didn't stop New Jersey from proclaiming the tomato as their state vegetable. In fact, in 1893 the United States Supreme Court declared the tomato a vegetable on the basis that it was usually served for dinner and not dessert (the government's been wasting our money for a long time!). Krochmal Farm Owners Answer Odor Complaints Before Board of Health

Hearing gets heated as the farm and board discuss this year's 115 recorded complaints.

Owners and staff members of Krochmal Farms appeared before the Tewksbury Board of Health Thursday night to respond to the latest wave of odor-related complaints directed at the farm. According to board records, complaints included reports that the odor in the area near the farm was "just impossible" and "brutal," according to specific callers. The farm was hit with 28 complaints in the month of August, bringing the total for the year to 115, according to board records.  Saying the farm had received just two days notification of hearing,  John Michael Cave, son of farm owners John and Jan Caves,  stood up to ask why an emergency meeting of the Board of Health had been called. 2nd Annual Krochmal Cares Fundraiser this Sunday

Proceeds from the event will go to benefit three young leukemia patients.

The second annual Krochmal Cares for Kids Fundraiser will be held at Krochmal Farms on Sunday, Sept. 12,  from noon to 4 p.m. The event is to raise money for three leukemia patients aged 4-6 and will feature live music, horse-drawn hayrides, pony rides, raffles, food, games, silent auctions and more. It will be held rain or shine and the forecast is predicting a beautiful, sunny day with temperatures in the 60s and 70s. There is a $10 per person donation to attend, but entire families, regardless of how many people, can attend by donating $40. Children's Hospital will be present with its Blood Mobile donation bus and donors can attend the event at no cost. Every person who donates blood helps four children who are battling with cancer and …
