Sequestration Budget Cuts Data: Which MA Counties Have the Most Federal Employees?

MIddlesex County has more than 9,000 federal employees, most of whom work in defense.

The numbers here show the federal employees in Massachusetts by county in 2012, according to the latest figures from Eye on Washington, a DC-based lobbying firm that tracks federal employment. It compiles the data from the Office of Personnel Management, Federal Employment Statistics and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. While much has been made written on how the current sequestration battle in Washington could affect the national economy, these numbers are meant to give readers a sense of the sequestration at the local level. Sequester is a 2% reduction in GROWTH not a cut! I am sick of the press parroting the Obama Administrations lies! The Defense budget was to GROW 20% and will now GROW 18%! Non-discretionary spending set to GROW 14% will GROW 12%! This is insane! and the low information voters and media need to educate themselves! Caswell Family Wins Three-Year Battle With Feds

Judge rules that motel is not subject to forfeiture.

The Motel Caswell is remaining under the ownership of the Caswell family for the forseeable future. On Thursday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Judith Dein ruled that the Tewksbury motel was not subject to forfeiture, as argued by Federal law enforcement officials. In her 59-page ruling dismissing the forfeiture action, Dein stated, in part: "After careful consideration of the evidence, pleadings, and argument of counsel, this Court concludes that the Government has failed to meet its burden of establishing that the Motel is subject to forfeiture." The U.S. Attorney's Office first took action to seize the Motel Caswell back in September 2009, claiming it had long been a hotspot for srime in Tewksbury, particularly drug activity. Government …
