Antique cars, family heirlooms destroyed in blaze.
A two-alarm destroyed a 19th century barn at 1005 Livingston St. on Wednesday, taking with it two antique cars and nearly a century of family history. The fire broke out just after 2 p.m. and Tewksbury firefighters arrived just in the nick of time to save an adjacent duplex. "When we got here the barn was fully involved and the heat had startd to melt the siding on the house," said Fire Chief Mike Hazel. Firefighters were able to get water on the side of the house quickly and limit the damage. "That's a great save. That's a quick jump to a building lost right there." Suspect was injured while trying to climb out third-story window.
A 42-year-old Tewksbury man has been charged with kidnapping after allegedly trapping his girlfriend in his apartment Monday afternoon. David Ahern, of 433 Ames Hill Drive, is believed to have been under the influence of drugs when he allegedly drilled a screw into the door of his apartment, officials said. According to Fire Department officials, Ahern then tried to leave the apartment by climbing out a third story window using sheets. He fell to the ground, injuring himself and then tried to crawl away to avoid detection, according to Fire Lt. Brian Hurley, who was part of the rescue crew that responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call. Hurley discovered Ahern huddled in a utility closet outside the basement of the apartment …

Blaze began with a candle left unattended.
An unattended candle is the cause of a two-alarm fire that caused heavy damage to a single-family home at 69 Lake St. Monday afternoon. According to Tewksbury Fire Capt. James Bruce, the call came in around 4:30 p.m. Neighbors reported seeing heavy smoke pouring our from the basement of the home and a resident of the address called on his cell phone to report the fire and said that everyone was safely out of the building. According to Bruce, the caller also stated that he had lit a candle in the basement and then left the house. The fire was knocked down quickly, but not before damage was done to the basement and a corner bedroom on the first floor.
