Tewksbury's Ken Mackey Opens Another Orange Leaf In Acton

Orange Leaf enjoying early success after opening earlier this month.

It's early Monday afternoon and a throng of Acton students scuttle inside this quaint Main Street shop. Their eyes quickly focus at the colorful back wall where eight dispensers featuring 16 mouth-watering flavors await them, along with nearly 40 delicious toppings to choose from. The students pay, grab a seat and gleefully chat while enjoying their frozen yogurt in front of a large hi-def TV. That's been a typical day for Ken Mackey, one of the co-owners of Orange Leaf which opened earlier this month on Main Street. "The first week was great," he said. "The day we opened there were four girls waiting at the door at 9 a.m. until we opened at 11 a.m. We had 10 kids come in right away and it was really nonstop until we closed at 10 p.m. Each…

Orange leaf and chains alike are full of dyes and artificial favors. Independents like richardsons are the way to go. The Krispy Kreme reference is spot on. Froyo is a fad that only the franchiser makes the real money.   more ›

Located on Route 38 at Wamesit Place, near the entrance to Walmart, Orange Leaf promises to bring a whole new kind of experience to Tewksbury.  Owned and operated by partners Ken Mackey, Gerry Goodwin and Don Coffin, Orange Leaf‘s mission statement is a simple one, “To promote community and family by providing a great tasting, sensible frozen dessert made just for you, by you, in an environment that is  as visually uplifting as it is welcoming.”  Orange Leaf arrives in town with a decidedly local flavor. Two of the …

Agreed, I LOVE fro-yo and was excited when Pushcart started offering it again, but one time was enough. It wasn't good, at all. Orange Leaf is FANTASTIC and I'm glad I won't have to go to Andover any more to get it! I hope it lasts here, but seeing as its Tewksbury I won't hold my breath :/   more ›

Owner Reveals Location, Projected Opening For Orange Leaf

Tewksbury frozen yogurt shop will be one of more than a dozen Orange Leaf locations opening in Massachusetts.

One of the owners of the much-anticipated Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt franchise in Tewksbury has provided the answers to where the store will be located and when it projects to open. Ken Mackey, a Tewksbury native, said the new business will be located at 345 Main St., in the Wamesit Place plaza. He and his partners hope to have the store open for business by mid-to-late July. "We'd like to get that summertime business if we can," said Mackey. Mackey owns the franchise, along with Don Coffin of Tewksbury and Jerry Goodwin of Andover. Best of luck! My daughters are also looking forward to the grand opening! I was just wondering if you were considering offering a dairy free flavor(s) for little ones, like my daughter will dairy allergies? It would be greatly appreciated! :)   more ›

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt Is Coming To Tewksbury ... But Where?

Chain expanding with several new franchises in Massachusetts.

Oklahoma-based Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt is planning to open a franchise in Tewksbury in the coming months. The only question is "where?" The website of the rapidly growing chain (orangeleafyogurt.com) lists Tewksbury as "Coming Soon" on a list of franchise locations. However, it does not list an address. According to the website, 28 Park St. in Andover is the only Massachusetts location among the company's 144 franchises. The company is planning to add 11 Massachusetts stores, including Tewksbury and Westford. Orange Leaf calls itself "America's Yogurt" and "one of the most demanded brands in our industry." Messages left with the company to discus their Tewksbury plans were not immediately returned. Where do you think Orange Leaf should …
