Tewksbury U16 Girls Win State Softball Championship

Tewksbury defeats Taunton twice in the championship round to claim the title.

After a Championship in the Think Pink Tournament 7-0 & a 3-1 Finish in The Old Orchard Southern Maine Diamond Challenge, the U16 Tewksbury Girls Softball team took home the U16 Massachusetts State championship this past weekend in Lowell. Tewksbury went 9-1 on the weekend and have an overall record of 19-2 on the young season. POTD: Tewksbury 14U Red Travel Softball Team 'Thinks Pink'

Fresh Looks Salon provides pink hair extensions to players for special benefit tournament.

Recently, the 14U Red Tewksbury Travel Softball team participated in the "Think Pink Tournament and they were dressed for the occasion, thanks to a local salon. Fresh Looks Salon generously donated pink hair extensions to the team honor of their participation in the tournament. Tewksbury Girls U9-1 Team Goes Unbeaten At Tournament

Little Lady Redmen post 3-0-2 record over the weekend.

(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by Paul Figucia, coach of The Tewksbury Girls U9-1 team.) The Tewksbury Girls U9-1 team a.k.a. The Little Lady Redmen participated in the Tosh Farrell Soccer Tourney in Amesbury.  The team went undeated at 3-0-2.  Being a true U9 team and having to play all U10 teams, that is quite an accomplishment.  Great teamwork is the backbone of the team.  It all starts with Goaltending and Defense on our team.  Great job Little Lady Redmen.

Two big wins for the 7B squad.

Girls 7B Tewksbury     27, Reading 22 The 7B girls travel team travelled to Reading on Saturday and to say that they started out slow was an understatement.  They didn’t get on the score board for over 6 minutes but this didn’t deter them as they tied the game at the end of the first half.  At the buzzer, a Reading player was fouled and sank 1 of her free throws to give the Rockets a slim1 point lead at 12-11.  Scoring for the Redmen were Kiera Nash, Lizzie Markwarth, and Sam Surowiec with 2 points a piece, Maddy Wescott with 4 points, and Erika Whynot with a season high 17 points.  In the second half the …

Monarchs Reign Over The Lynx; Comets Fly High

JUNIOR LEAGUE MONARCHS 12  LYNX 5 The Lynx fell to a resurgent Monarchs squad on Saturday. The 1st quarter was a back and forth effort with the Lynx getting many scoring chances in the quarter. Jessica Caredeo looked great coming off an injury to sink one and Sarah Milne got clear on a shot in the paint to sink her 1st basket of the season resulting in the 4-4 tie after one. In the 2nd quarter, Kendall Donahoe playing defense in a box-and-one set held the Monarchs tenacious guard at bay for most of the quarter but in the final minute she was able to get free for a couple of baskets. JUNIOR LEAGUE SPARKS 12 COMETS 8 The Sparks played an incredible game, showcasing their solid passing, good shooting, and strong defense as they won their 3rd game of the year.  The Sparks jumped out to an early 8-0 lead but watched as the Comets slowly caught up.  By the 4th quarter, the Comets inched back to within 2 points before a final Sparks basket was made with two minutes remaining.The scoring was led by Brianna Walker and Kerry Shea as they both scored 4 points each.  Alexa Harrington and Abigail Naugler each contributed a basket as well.  Abigail's basket in the final 2 minutes was crucial as the …

Tewksbury High boys basketball streak can't snap home winless streak; girls basketball team loses at Andover.

Senior point guard Bobby Lumbard once again had the hot hand for the Tewksbury High boys basketball team Tuesday night, but one weapon was not enough for the Redmen as they came up short against a talented Andover squad, losing 56-43. Lumbard sank five consecutive three-pointers and led all scorers with 20 points, but six different Andover players scored five or more points and the Redmen came up empty at home in spite of a spirited defensive effort. "It's pick your poison against them," said Tewksbury High coach Phil Conners. "That's another good team.
