Redmen Roundup: Girls Track Runs Roughshod Over Lawrence

Sweeps in four events carry Tewksbury to easy win.

Girls Indoor Track Tewksbury 63, Lawrence 20 Sweeps in four events carried Tewksbury High to an easy 63-20 win over Lawrence High this week. Tewksbury finished the dual meet season at 4-1 but fell just short of the MVC Small School championship. "Billerica beat Dracut 44-42 That gives Billerica the MVC Div. 2 dual meet title. We needed Dracut to beat Billerica to create a 3-way tie for the title," sioad Coach Peter Molloy. "Ultimately when you don't take advantage of opportunities to succeed you rely on others to help you.  That was the case this season.  We started the season a bit out of shape and not ready to rumble.  That hurt us in the second meet of the season versus Billerica." Against Lawrence, Jess Amadee (7.7) led a sweep of the …

Redmen Roundup -- Rough Day For TMHS Track, Hockey Teams

Boys and girls track teams both lose to Billerica; hockey team loses to Westford.

If there's one thing _Tewksbury High girls track _coach Peter Molloy has learned over the years, it's that drawing up a defensive game plan is a waste of time in track and field. "My big saying in track and cross country is 'There's no defense.' You can't stop somebody if they're doing well," Molloy said after watching his TMHS girls team perform extremely well and still come up short, 54.5-31.5, against Billerica Wednesday afternoon at Lawrence High. The Billerica team is talented and deep this year, and Molloy talked to his team about that before the meet. "I told the girls that in order for us to even have a chance, you've got to do everything right," Molloy said. "And we pretty much did everything right. It was just a matter of, they'…

Redmen Roundup: TMHS Girls Track Team Gets First Win

Boys Track, wrestlers suffer dual meet losses.

For the Tewksbury High girls track team, senior captains Sarah Hogan and Jess Bridle are like interchangeable parts. Wherever you plug them in, they make the team go. On Wednesday, Hogan and Bridle swapped their customary places, with Hogan running the 50-yard dash and Bridle running the 300 meters. Predictably, the results were the same as usual, as Hogan and Bridle each took first place, sparking the TMHS girls to their first dual meet win of the season, 45-41 over Methuen. "There was no real reason for it," said Tewksbury coach Peter Molloy of the Hogan/Bridle event swap. "We knew they weren't going to lose even if it was the other way around. It wasn't about strategy, it was just flipping them. We just like to give our kids a chance to…
