Tewksbury Field Hockey Overpowers Bedford, 3-1

Redmen roll behind Greene and Russell.

The Tewksbury Memorial High School field hockey team didn't let the rainy weather stop them from overpowering Bedford Monday afternoon, although there were a few spills taken along the way thanks to the slippery wet grass.  The weather wasn't the only tricky circumstance the Redmen had to overcome, as the team has recently been plagued with injuries suffered by some members of the original starting lineup.  Starters Michelle Tully and Liz Connolly were among the players unable to play in the game against Bedford. Tully suffered a broken finger in the Chelmsford game, and Connolly is recovering from an ankle sprain.  According to head coach Patricia Ryser, Tully is expected back next week, and Connolly is being worked back into the rotation…

Tewksbury Field Hockey Nets Scoreless Tie

Redmen salvage a point after late Chelmsford goal is disallowed.

With just 10 minutes left in the game, fans witnessed the ball rocket to the back of Tewksbury's net under the lights at the Chelmsford High School stadium Wednesday night. A voice came over the loud speaker, "the goal scorer was Chelmsford's senior captain, number three, Alanah Busby." The Chelmsford fans cheered for this was the moment they had been waiting for all game. However, almost as soon as the voice came over the loudspeaker, it was back, only this time the announcer said "no goal." The cheering didn't stop, but simply shifted from the home section of the bleachers to visitor's side. There was a collective sigh of relief from Tewksbury fans and players. The goal was revoked because Busby shot the ball from outside the circle, and…
