Shuttle Relay Team Shatters School Record at Nike Nationals

Quartet of underclassmen destroy five-year-old record.

This past weekend, the Tewksbury High girls track team sent a relay team to the New Balance Indoor Nationals in New York City with outstanding results. Juniors Kelly Quigley, Jess Amedee, Ashley Callahan and sophomore Alyssa Zurawski had qualified for the meet as part of the 4 x 55m Shuttle Hurdle Relay. The foursome qualified in their only chance this season when they competed at the MSTCA Division 2 Relays, where they placed 2nd in the 4x50m Shuttle Hurdles Relay. Their time of 30.02 at the Relays was the second fastest in school history for that event. Since the State Relay meet the girls had their sights set on breaking the 4 x 55m Shuttle Hurdles school record - which is only contested at the National Championships. The girls did not …

Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Invitational Several members of the Tewksbury High girls track team posted personal bests as they competed in the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Invitational over the weekend. Kelley Quigley posted a personal best in the long jump (15-4.25), as did Rebecca Davies in the 1000 (3:15.14). "You get a real sense for the natural ability of a kid by how well they can long jump," said Coach Peter Molloy. "Before this season Kelley never really did it.  She's had exactly two meets to give it a go and zero opportunities to practice it!  Fact of the matter is with very little experience Kelley has put her self in position to be a top five hurdler, top three 300m runner, and a top five long …

Redmen Roundup -- Rough Day For TMHS Track, Hockey Teams

Boys and girls track teams both lose to Billerica; hockey team loses to Westford.

If there's one thing _Tewksbury High girls track _coach Peter Molloy has learned over the years, it's that drawing up a defensive game plan is a waste of time in track and field. "My big saying in track and cross country is 'There's no defense.' You can't stop somebody if they're doing well," Molloy said after watching his TMHS girls team perform extremely well and still come up short, 54.5-31.5, against Billerica Wednesday afternoon at Lawrence High. The Billerica team is talented and deep this year, and Molloy talked to his team about that before the meet. "I told the girls that in order for us to even have a chance, you've got to do everything right," Molloy said. "And we pretty much did everything right. It was just a matter of, they'…
