Class of 2012 Looks To Continue Athletic Success In College

Jess Bridle, Chris London and Kevin Saunders among others head off to various colleges to continue their atheltic careers.

As Tewksbury High fall sports tryouts get underway later this week, many of last year’s standout athletes from the 2012 senior class are about to kick off yet another athletic season too. Track superstar Jess Bridle is off to Bucknell University in Pennsylvania this fall after coming off one of the most successful track careers in TMHS history. Finishing with a Division 2 State Championship, multiple Merrimack Valley Championships and TMHS school records, Bridle will run track for the Bison at Bucknell. A three-sport captain in volleyball and both winter and spring track, TMHS athletic director, Brian Hickey is confident Bridle’s success will continue at the collegiate level. “She’s truly a special level of competitor,” Hickey said. “…

Bridle Takes Second in 400 At All-State Meet

Tewksbury Girl's 4x400 Meter Relay Team Takes Third

She may have already received her diploma, tossed her cap in the air and hung her graduation gown in the closet, but Tewksbury High senior Jess Bridle has yet to put the final touches on her high school track resume. Four days after graduating, Bridle ran her fastest ever time in the 400 meters, taking second place in the MIAA All-State championships at Fitchburg State College on Tuesday. Bridle, who has 10 Merrimack Valley Conference championships and a Division 2 state championship to her credit, knocked three-tenths of a second off her previous best time in the 400 and posted a career best 57.76 clocking at the all-state meet. "It's really remarkable, when you think about it," said TMHS coach John Byrnes. "She put aside all the …

Bridle, Semenza Go 1-2 At Division 2 State Track Meet

Senior Jess Bridle wins Division 2 state 400 meter dash championship, sophomore Sara Semenza finishes second

Just when it seemed as though Jess Bridle had done all there was to do in a Tewksbury High track uniform, the TMHS senior speedster added yet another accomplishment to her long list of achievements by taking first place in the 400 meter dash at the MIAA Division 2 State Championship meet Sunday afternoon at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School. Bridle had already done more in her four-year career at TMHS than any other female track athlete, winning 10 different Merrimack Valley Conference championships, six individually and four on relay teams. "You could try to squeeze Jessie's (track) resume onto one page, but even if you typed it single spaced in a 10-point font, it wouldn't fit," TMHS coach John Byrnes said. "She's been knocking on the …

Bridle Hits For The MVC Track Cycle

Tewksbury High senior track star Jess Bridle closes out her historic career with two more MVC Championships

If there was any doubt as to whether or not Tewksbury High track superstar Jess Bridle would go down in history as one of the top performers ever to lace up a pair of cleats in the Merrimack Valley Conference, the question was answered once and for all Thursday night at Andover High School. Already considered to be one of the most successful runners in MVC track history with eight league championships to her name, Bridle captured her ninth and 10th career MVC gold medals at the 2012 MVC Championship meet, and is so doing accomplished something no other MVC track athlete has ever done, according to TMHS coach John Byrnes. Bridle breezed to a runaway victory in the 200 meter dash championship, adding the 200 meter title to a collection of …

TMHS Girls Track Team Is Off To A Fast Start

Tewksbury girls drop Dracut, 92-53; TMHS boys get nipped in relay

Seniors Courtney Spinelli and Sarah Hogan and sophomore Kelly Quigley won two events each as the Tewksbury High girls track team got its 2012 season off to a fast start with a convincing, 92-53 win over Dracut Wednesday afternoon. Hogan served notice that she will be among the sprinters to watch in the Merrimack Valley Conference this season, taking impressive wins in both the 100 and 200 meters. Hogan won the 100 in a personal record 13.1 seconds in spite of windy conditions, and came back later to win the 200 in an outstanding early season time of 27.2 seconds. Spinelli won the javelin with a toss of 107-feet, three inches, and took first in the discus with a winning toss of 83-feet, six inches.   Quigley took firsts in the triple jump (…

Redmen Roundup -- Big Day On The Big Stage For TMHS Wrestlers, Runners

London, Davidian and Jansen Advance to Division 2 Wrestling Semi-Finals; Bridle takes Fifth Career MVC Track Title.

Tewksbury High senior sprinter Jess Bridle continued to rewrite the TMHS girls track record books Friday afternoon, capturing her fifth career Merrimack Valley Conference individual championship by running away from the rest of the competition in the 300-meter run at the MVC Championship meet at the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center in Boston. Bridle, who has won three 400-meter championships and one 100-meter sprint championship in outdoor track, won her first-ever indoor championship in a breeze, beating second-place finished Katie Mulkerin of Billerica by over a full second, finishing in 41.55 seconds. "She dominated it," said Tewksbury coach Peter Molloy. "She kind of just ran the way everyone expected her to. Everyone knew she was the best…

Bridle Sets TMHS 300 Meter Record

Bridle takes first at MSTCA Coaches Invitational; Jacintho wins shot put gold.

In four years of running track at Tewksbury High School, Jess Bridle has assembled a list of accomplishments that would rival any other track star in TMHS history. She has scored more points in dual meets than any sprinter in recent memory, and has run a leg on three different school record-setting relay teams. All that was missing was an individual school record for Bridle. Until Saturday. The Tewksbury High senior speedster put the exclamation point on her impressive running resume this past weekend, taking first place in the 300 meters at the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association's Invitational Meet at the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Center in Boston. Bridle blazed through the 300 in a school record time of 41.38 seconds, …

Central Tops TMHS Boys, Girls Track Teams On Opening Day

Bridle, Hogan, Jacintho, Amaral, Fiorello and Thomas are the bright spot as boys fall, 54-32, girls lose 62-23.

With both the Tewksbury High boys and girls track teams having lost tons of talent to graduation, the last thing coaches Bill Meuse and Peter Molloy needed was to match up against a talented and deep Central Catholic team on opening day. The schedule maker was not kind, and the results, predictably, fell mostly Central's way as Tewksbury's normally dominant track program suffered a rare double loss. The boys came up short, 54-32, while the girls also fell, 62-23 in the opening meet for both squads. BRIDLE, HOGAN, JACINTHO SHINE IN GIRLS MEET Senior captains Jess Bridle and Sarah Hogan both scored big wins in the 55-meter dash and the 300 meters, respectively, while Lisetta Jacintho won the shot put to lead the Tewksbury effort. Bridle took…

Caprio, Kirby Excel At State Class Meet

TMHS girls track team finishes ninth, boys finish 11th at Division 2 state championships.

Watery eyes and frustrated looks were far more prevalent than smiles and fist pumps for the Tewksbury High boys and girls track teams at the MIAA Division 2 championship meet at Bridgewater State University on Saturday. Richard Kirby and Andrea Caprio provided the two brightest moments on a day that saw the TMHS girls team finish in ninth place and the boys team finish 11th. Kirby had an outstanding meet, setting a school record in the 400-meter hurdles and taking third place in the pole vault, while Caprio captured second place in the javelin. Kirby ran the 400-meter hurdles in 55.83 seconds to put his name in the Tewksbury record books. He finished fourth in the competition in that event. Needham's Peter Farlow won the race in 55.31 …
