Redmen Roundup: Tewksbury Sweeps Methuen In Track Openers

Redmen runners start the spring season with a sweep.

Boys Track Tewksbury 81.5 - Methuen 54.5 The Redmen came racing out of the gates, led by Cory Cataldo, who won the 400 intermediate hurdles and triple jump and placed second in the long jump. The Redmen throwers also had an excellent day, sweeping the javelin and the discus and taking second and third in the shot. John Fiorello led the way, winning the javelin and placing second in the discus. "Overall great meet, I knew Methuen had a great distance crew, but we did not know how we matched up everywhere else," said TMHS Coach Bill Meuse. Redmen Roundup: Girls Track Runs Roughshod Over Lawrence

Sweeps in four events carry Tewksbury to easy win.

Girls Indoor Track Tewksbury 63, Lawrence 20 Sweeps in four events carried Tewksbury High to an easy 63-20 win over Lawrence High this week. Tewksbury finished the dual meet season at 4-1 but fell just short of the MVC Small School championship. "Billerica beat Dracut 44-42 That gives Billerica the MVC Div. 2 dual meet title. We needed Dracut to beat Billerica to create a 3-way tie for the title," sioad Coach Peter Molloy. "Ultimately when you don't take advantage of opportunities to succeed you rely on others to help you.  That was the case this season.  We started the season a bit out of shape and not ready to rumble.  That hurt us in the second meet of the season versus Billerica."
