Plans are in place for Tewksbury's annual Fourth of July Celebration at the Saunders Recreation Complex on Livingston Street. This year's celebration promises to be better than ever, with games and activities for the children and adults, lots of food and fun and live music leading up to an awesome fireworks display in the evening. All you have to do is donate a non-perishable food item at the Patch/Food Pantry table at the event and you will get a free Patch T-shirt. This has been a challenging year for the Food Pantry, which helps out around 250 local families, as donations have been down. Anything you can do …

Despite a one-week delay, hundreds of children turned out to participate.
Hundreds of children and their families gathered at the Saunders Recreation Complex for the annual Community Safe Halloween celebration. The Police Department was on hand with vehicles and a K-9 demonstration, as was the Fire Department and DPW. The National Guard also made an appearance. The event was organized by a committee led by Tewksbury Safety Officer Jennie Welch. There were games and activities for the kids and, of course, no shortage of creative costumes. Editor Bill Gilman was on hand and captured these images.

Or that same blanket draped over a few chairs can become a temporary play-fort. If you can stand the …
