Happy Labor Day Tewksbury! Town Hall and all town offices are closed today. This includes the Senior Center and the Public Library. All schools, both public and private, are closed today, as well. Also, recycling pickup will be delayed from Wednesday to Thursday this week because of the holiday. All federal and state offices are also closed today. This includes the Post Office, as well as the State Department of Emergency Management and other state public health offices located off East Street on the campus of Tewksbury Hospital. The hospital itself is open for visitation. Here is some additional information on what is open and closed on Labor Day.

Gas prices in the area have increased by 20 cents over the past month.
The lower gas price of a month ago is now just a memory as regular gas prices have increased by 20 cents over the past month in the Boston area. The average regular gallon of gas is $3.80 today in the Boston area compared to $3.60 just a month ago. Mid-range gas is now $3.94 compared to $3.76 from a month ago and premium has increased to $4.07 from $3.88, according to AAA. Closer to home, there are at least four stations charging less than the area average -- A&B Automotive, 1258 Main St. ($3.70 a gallon average), Haffners Service Station, 2221 Main St. ($3.76 a gallon), Petroil, Main St. ($3.76 a gallon) and Tewksbury BP 869 Main St. ($3.78 a gallon).
