The Tewksbury-Metheun girls hockey team is the final squad remaining with Tewksbury High School students in the postseason.
And then there was one. The final Tewksbury team remaining in the postseason skates on Monday night, hoping to continue what's been a surprising run deep into the Division 2 bracket. The Methuen-Tewksbury girls hockey team thumped Norwell, 10-3, in the preliminary round, cruised past Canton, 7-3, in the first round, and next faces off against Gardner in the quarterfinals. Gardner opened with a preliminary round bye before it edged Burlington, 2-1, in a shootout. Monday's quarterfinal round is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. inside Watertown's Ryan Rink. The winner will take on either top-seeded Duxbury or No. 8 Archbishop Williams in the Division 2 semifinal round. The Methuen-Tewksbury playoff run has been an impressive one, especially given the …

A late intentional foul call hurt Tewksbury's chances of completing a comeback, and the locals were eliminated with a 38-34 loss.
It was a strong season for the Tewksbury High School girls basketball team. But it was a foul end for the Redmen on Wednesday night in North Andover. A controversial intentional foul call late in the North Division 2 first round game prevented Tewksbury from making one final attempt to get back in the game and helped the Scarlet Knights escape with a 38-34 win. After Tewksbury couldn't capitalize on several possessions trailing by one point, the Redmen were forced to foul with about 15 seconds remaining. When a defender fouled in hopes of getting the ball back down by at worst three points, the referee instead ruled that the foul came with no intent at going for the ball. As a result, North Andover received two free throws, the ball back …

The MIAA released its playoff brackets over the weekend, as games will get underway in upcoming days for both of Tewksbury's hockey and basketball teams.
The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association released its postseason brackets over the weekend, featuring four Tewksbury High School teams that will begin action in the upcoming days. Boys Hockey Tewksbury hopes to rebound from its regular season ending loss to Wilmington like it did two years ago when the Redmen lost 6-0 to the Wildcats before going on to win the state championship. This year's playoff run begins with a Tuesday game against Watertown, set for 5:30 p.m. inside Stoneham Arena. The winner of that tilt faces off against either Newburyport or Concord-Carlisle in the quarterfinal round on Friday. A potential dream scenario could play out for local hockey fans. Wilmington and Tewksbury are on the opposite side of the …

Winthrop eliminates Tewksbury High Hockey team from MIAA state tournament, 4-0.
Unfortunately for the Tewksbury High hockey team, the 2011-2012 season ended just the way it started. On a down note. The defending Division 2 State Champion Redmen got stung early and never recovered Tuesday night, suffering a 4-0 loss to Winthrop High in their opening round MIAA state tournament game at the Stoneham Arena. Winthrop forward Matt Todisco scored what proved to be the game-winning goal just 1:09 into the first period, effectively knocking the young TMHS team right off its game plan, and things never got better after that. Two second period goals put the game out of reach and a fourth goal in the third period added insult to injury as Tewksbury's dreams of making another strong post-season run were ruined before the Redmen …
