Mass. State Troopers in New Jersey to Help Keep Peace in Wake of Hurricane Sandy Devastation

Preventing people from looting their neighbors' homes is part of the troopers' work in New Jersey.

  New Jersey called, and Massachusetts answered. The state of New Jersey asked for help with devastation in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, requesting that nearby states send law enforcement officers to help keep peace and order in the hardest-hit areas of New Jersey. On Saturday, a detachment of 25 troopers from the Massachusetts State Police was selected and sent, reporting to Fort Dix to be sworn in as police officers.  The Massachusetts State Police officers are working with Louisiana State Police and New Jersey State Police in areas including Brick, Ocean Park, Seaside Heights and Palisades Park. UPDATED: State, Local Police Continue Search for B&E Suspect

For second time in three days, Wilmington incident leads to air search.

Massachusetts State Police used ground and air units to search for a suspect after an incident in Wilmington for the second time in just three days. According to the state police press office, a suspect involved in a Wilmington home invasion at about 10 a.m. Monday morning fled in a gray Audi.  Wilmington Police said a former resident went to a Carolyn Road home to check on their parents' house, entered through the side door and saw an older white male carrying a pillow case. Police said the suspect originally fled on foot behind the house but then returned to the Audi and sped off. Tewksbury Police were in full pursuit of the vehicle at about 11:10 a.m., police said, but the man escaped into Lowell. He later left the vehicle there and …

UPDATED: State Police Searching for Wilmington Home Invasion Suspect

UPDATED 12 p.m. State Police are combing the area by land and air, search for a suspect in a home invasion that took place in Wilmington this morning. Originally, State Police reported that the crime had taken place in Tewksbury. However, they corrected themselves and now say it took place on the Wilmington side of the town line. According to information provided by the State Police press office, the suspect is believed to have fled the scene of the home invasion in a vehicle, then dumped the vehicle in Lowell and fled on foot. According to the press office, State Police have identified the suspect, who is known to police. His name is not being released at this time.
