Driver may have been texting at the time of the accident
A Tewksbury man is scheduled to appear in a Salem, NH courtroom next month after allegedly causing a multi-car accident while driving drunk last week. The Lawrence Eagle-Tribune reported that Harold Medeiros, 59, was arrested on Jan. 26 after allegedly causing a four-car pile up in Pelham. Medeiros and two other people sustained injuries in the crash and were taken to area hospitals for treatment. According to the Eagle-Tribune report, a concerned driver called _police_ in Methuen and Pelham about a possible drunk driver in a gold Lexus SUV around 8 p.m. An officer in Pelham tried to pull over Medeiros but he allegedly slammed into a vehicle parked at an intersection, causing the four-car crash. Tewksbury Police are seeking a suspect involved in an altercation at the Motel 6 early Wednesday (Jan. 4) morning. According to the police report, a clerk from the motel called police around 4:30 a.m. to report a possible fight outside one of the rooms. Four units responded to the scene and located the victim, who had suffered a laceration on his finger. Police were told that the suspect had escaped, with his mother, in a blue Toyota Camry. Tewksbury Police are searching for a woman claiming to be a personal care assistant (PCA), who allegedly robbed a man Friday night. According to a Tewksbury Police report, dispatch received a call just after 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, from a man staying at the Motel 6. He said that a woman knocked at his door and claimed to be his new PCA. According to the man, once inside the room, the woman robbed him of his Oxycontin and a phone worth $600. On Monday, Dec. 26, at roughly 6 p.m., Tewksbury Police received a 911 call regarding a hit and run accident in the parking lot at the Extended Stay America hotel on Route 133. The caller told police that one vehicle had struck another and then left the area in the direction of the Hess Station. A short time later, the registered owner of the car that had left called Tewksbury Police to report the accident. She said she had not been driving the vehicle at the time of the accident but that her 21-year-old son and his 16-year-old girlfriend had been in the vehicle. A shoplifter with the skills of a running back managed to slip away from Home Depot security, Sunday evening. Around 6:30 p.m., Tewksbury Police received a call from loss prevention at Home Depot, reporting that they had tackled a man trying to steal a drill. However, the man managed to elude their grasp and ran out of the store. A short time later, a woman called 911 and reported that she saw the suspect running toward Motel 6. A sergeant then spoke to a witness who said they saw the suspect get into a green Stratus or Neon and flee the scene. The witness was unable to provide a license plate number. Two women reported being assaulted last week in separate incidents. The first incident came to light Thursday, around 5:30 p.m., when Tewksbury Hospital Campus Police called Dispatch and a patient at the hospital reported she had been raped the night before. The Campus Police officer said that they had reached the point in their investigation when a rape kit was needed. Det. Peter Regan was sent to the hospital with the rape kit and filed a report. Two women face charges after their motor vehicle stop turned into a drug bust. Jennifer McGuire, 18, of 7 Glad Valley Drive, Billerica and Jamie Coulouris, 25, of 2 Boyle St., Wilmington, were arrested on Saturday, at around 11 p.m. The vehicle the women were travelling in was pulled over by Tewksbury Police, after a routine registration check came back that the registration had been revoked. A Wilmington woman has been charged with drunk driving in connection with an accident that shut down a section of Main Street for several hours on Sunday. Victoria Anne Lacount, 32, of 6 Bond St., faces charges of OUI-liquor, marked lanes violations and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. The accident took place just before 1 a.m. on Sunday near the intersection of Hinkley Road and Main Street.
