I certainly hope you all had a holiday as wonderful as mine, but now that the eat, drink, and be merry is winding down, it's time to think of those New Year resolutions. If you're anything like me, you will resolve to lose those extra pounds and live a healthier lifestyle. This would be my 32nd year in a row and one of these years might actually get it right. Seriously, my waste line has fluctuated more than the Dow Jones over the years. In my business losing weight is a very difficult endeavor. Not that it can't be done. Two summers ago I lost over 40 pounds, of course I found them and a few of their friends and they have definitely over stayed their welcome. If you were in charge, what would the priorities be if Tewksbury suddenly came into a significant windfall.
Back in the 90s, the Barenaked Ladies had a No. 1 with the sing, "If I had a million dollars. Oh, c'mon you remember ... "I'll buy you a green dress but not a real green dress, that's cruel." (Wow, without context, that sounds silly.) Regardless, this week our Question Of The Week poses this precise question ... with a twist. Let's say Tewksbury suddenly came into a significant financial windfall -- $1,000,000 to be spent on any portion of the town budget or any town services. No small sum but maybe not as much as you think. It might be a challenge for the Town Manager or the Board of Selectmen to decide how to spend it. So we are asking you, our reader, to decide: If Tewksbury found itself with an extra $1million, how should it be spent?

Isn't it ironic how life teaches us lessons we never expect to learn. Case in point, some months ago my friend and co-worker, Kathy Bligh, told me of her daughter Erin's desire to raise goats. Erin is a charming young woman with a devout social consciousness. She is young and green (pun intended) and on the road to saving the world, or at least her part of it. Now I have heard tales of goats in dog crates, goats being sheltered from storms, goats making weird baby like cries and so forth and so on. All of which where quite anecdotal and very amusing. To each his own I thought. Good luck with that. Some time has since passed and my own daughter, a charming young lady in her own right, is in the midst of having some medical issues. Like…

Connect existing sidewalks - just some small additions would go a long way! Keep going down East Street to Livingston... Then up Livingston to connect to the sidwalks past THE Farm... Then fix the bad patches on Main Street from Livingston to the Center of town. Voila! An actual, walkable, runable, strollerable, wheelchairable loop!   more ›
