Tewksbury Man, 5 Others Sentenced For Selling Drugs At VA Hospital

Distribution of illegal narcotics involved several substances.

(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by the office of the U.S. Attorney in Boston.) The final defendant, charged last year with five others, has been sentenced for his role in distributing controlled substances at the VA Medical Center in Bedford. Steven Jakaitis, 50, of Lowell, was sentenced today by Judge Richard Stearns to 15 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. In July 2012, Jakaitis pleaded guilty to distribution of buprenorphine and conspiracy to distribute oxycodone. In January 2012, Jakaitis was charged along with David DeJesus, 52, of Lowell; Scott Houtchens, 50, of Lowell; David Porterfield, 45, of Saugus; David Robson, 53, of Tewksbury; and Allen Nickerson, 52, of Dorchester…

Tewksbury Police Win Two More Battles In War on Drugs

Two alleged dealers face charges; Oxycodone, crack, heroin seized.

The Tewksbury Police Department continued to wage a determined war on local drug trafficking with two more arrests on Wednesday. Benjamin Torres-Ramos, 30, of 247 Salem St, 3rd Floor, Lawrence, was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute a class B substance (crack and cocaine) subsequent offense, and possession with the intent to distribute a class A substance (heroin). The arrest came after Tewksbury Police Detectives stopped Torres-Ramos' vehicle around 3 p.m. for a motor vehicle violation on South Street.  After speaking to Torres-Ramos, detectives suspected Torres-Ramos was involved in drug activity and called in Police K-9 Geox to search his vehicle. Dad Deals Drugs From Car As Daughter Sleeps In Backseat

Suspect also found to be in possession of a stun-gun.

As his four-year-old daughter slept just a few feet away in a car seat, a 23-year-old Lowell man is alleged to have been conducting drug deals from his car in the parking lot at Walmart. Joshua Sanchez, of 99 Orleans St., Apt 1, Lowell, was arrested by Tewksbury Police Thursday night and charged with distribution of a Class B substance (oxycodone), conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act, and possession of an electronic stun gun. According to a Tewksbury Police report, officers were conducting surveillance in the parking lot of Walmart at 333 Main St. Sanchez was seen in a 2012 Toyota Venza, selling drugs to a second man in a 2011 Honda CRV. Home Invasion Suspects: We Did It To Protect Our Little Brother

Men charged in home invasion admit targeting victim.

Two brothers, among three men arrested over the weekend in connection with a brutal armed robbery last week, confessed to their roles in the crime but told police they were did it to protect their younger brother. Brandon Dorrington, 24, of Lynn and Jared Dorrington, 18, of Chelmsford, along with Brady Yanosick, 18, of Billerica, were arraigned in Lowell District Court on Monday, charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and battery, kidnapping, conspiracy and assault with intent to rob. Prosecutors allege the trio restrained and severely beat 22-year-old Kyle Perrin in a room at Motel 6.
