LETTER: Reader Is Not Pleased With New Polling Places

Reader upset that new polling location will require driving across town.

To The Editor: Why has the polling place for Precincts 3 and 3A been moved way across town, practically on the Lowell line? Couldn't they have found something closer?  It is difficult for some people to go that distance to vote.  We used to vote at the North Street School, then the Town Hall, then the Senior Center.  Those were all pretty close.  Now they expect us to go across town to vote.  I am going to have to get an absentee ballot for this years' elections.  I don't understand why the schools cannot be used for voting as they used to do years ago.  Give the students the day off, if necessary. Changing wards will, in many cases, change the location where voters cast their ballots. Attached is a list of the 567 addresses that have changed precincts under the redistricting. Included in that list are the 293 addresses that have changed wards. Just as a reminder, here are the list of town precincts and their polling locations: Senior Center, 175 Chandler St. -- Precincts 1 and 1A …
