Public Health Museum Celebrates Public Health Week

Week-long celebration at Tewksbury museum

It's National Public Health Week and the Public Health Museum, 365 East St. is engaged in a week-long celebration. On Wednesday, April 3, the museum is sponsoring a special lecture at the Tewksbury Public Library by Dr. Alfred DeMaria, one of the state's leading health officers. The stories told by DeMaria are fascinating, and should be of interest to the general public. In addition, the museum and library have collaborated on a special public health exhibit that can be seen at the library. There will be special events for nurse going on all week at the Public Health Museum In addition, from April 2 through April 6 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), the public is invited to tour the Public Heal Museum free of charge as part of the celebration.

Massachusetts Public Health Museum Re-Opens To Rave Reviews

Combined efforts of volunteers, staff and college students pays off.

More than 100 visitors gathered last week for the grand re-opening of the Massachusetts Public Health Museum on the campus of Tewksbury Hospital. Those who took part in a tour of the new exhibits were treated to a journey back in time through nearly 200 years of medical history. First opened in 1994, the museum was open to the public through July 2012, when it was closed for the major renovation. It is housed in the “Old Administration Building”, an 1894 Queen Anne style building designed by John A. Fox. The museum now features a combination of art, historical documents, photos and an amazing collection of historical medical equipment such as a vintage iron lung, dentist office equipment, blood-letting tools, insane asylum patient …

Public Invited to Re-Opening of Museum of Public Health

Grand re-opening ceremony for renovated museum is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 30.
