POTD: Jimbo's Famous Roast Beef Feeds Redmen Football Team

The Tewksbury High football team got fueled up for their Thanksgiving Day battle with Wilmington High with a free meal at Jimbo's.

The management at Jimbo's Famous Roast Beef did their part to prepare the Tewksbury High football team for their Thanksgiving Day showdown with Wilmington High by feeding the Redmen for free Wednesday afternoon. About 30 players were on hand and were very appreciative of the meal, which included French Fries, pizza and other menu items.

Public Invited To Open House Saturday At New High School

What does $66 million buy you? Tewksbury taxpayers will have the chance to find out on Saturday.

Saturday will be a huge day for Tewksbury Memorial High School. Not only does the varsity football team open its 2012 season at home against Lincoln-Sudbury (2:30 p.m. kickoff at Doucette Field), the public is invited to an open house at the brand new high school complex. The open houses will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include student-led tours of the new facility. In addition, school department officials will be on hand to answer any questions. Also, the new cafeteria will be open with menu items available for breakfast and lunch.

I can see where some would say that. I had him in Jr. High School and he was very, very tough on me. Called me out many times for lack of effort. I held a grudge for years. Decades later, with less of a chip on my shoulder and a bit more introspection, I can say I see now what he was trying to do. In an age where "everyone gets a trophy" and "you are #1 no matter what," Steve pushed the other way…   more ›

Redmen Lose A Tough One In Lawrence

Turnovers are costly in Tewksbury High football team's 22-15 loss to Lawrence.

"It's frustrating," said Aylward after watching his team commit four costly turnovers in dropping a heartbreaking 22-15 decision to Lawrence High School at Veteran's Memorial Stadium Friday night. "We can't give any team a short field four times and expect that we're going to be able to hold them out all four times. We can't make mistakes like that. If teams are going to get anything from us, we have to make them earn it." Ironically, the Redmen did make Lawrence work tremendously hard to earn …

Redmen Will Have Their Hands Full In Saturday's Football Season Opener

Talented Lincoln-Sudbury team visits Doucette Field as Tewksbury High kicks off the 2011 season.

Tewksbury High football coach Brian Aylward realizes his team caught Lincoln-Sudbury's potent offense at the right moment last year. The Redmen kept the Warriors and starting quarterback Matt Cahill fairly well in check in a 28-17 opening night victory in Sudbury last September. But Cahill and the Warriors hit their stride soon after, going undefeated in Dual County League play and taking the DCL Large School Division championship in 2010. Cahill returns for a third season as the Warriors' starter, and he is surrounded by a trio of talented running backs in Brian Carroll (12 touchdowns as a sophomore last year), Dan Celluci and Chris Giorgio. "They're not quite as big as they were last year but they're more athletic up front," said Aylward…
