Redmen Roundup: Lirakis, Conway Lead Girls Hockey, Boys Track Wins Tough

The Redmen Roundup is a daily look at Tewksbury High sports results and highlights.

Girls Hockey Tewksbury/Methuen 4, Weston/Wayland 3 The formula to winning in high school hockey isn't especially complicated. If you have an outstanding goalie and a couple of skilled snipers on your first line and you're likely going to win more than you lose. The Tewksbury/Methuen girls have both and, as a result, they are 2-0-0 to start their first-ever season. On Wednesday night, the Red Rangers built up a 4-1 lead over Wayland/Weston after two periods and held on for a 4-3 win. Wayland/Weston carried the play much of the game, peppering T-M goalie Taylor Lirakis with more than 40 shots. But Lirakis was up to the task, keeping the visitors at bay with save after save.
