Montuori: Almost Everyone Should Have Power Restored By Morning

As of 6 p.m., National Grid had restored power to all but a few hundred customers.

According to Town Manager Richard Montuori, nearly 100 percent of Tewksbury residents will wake up Thursday morning to find their power restored. Montuori said he has been told by National Grid that all of the cluster outages will be taken care of by midnight Wednesday. All that will remain will be scattered single homes with isolated outages. "It should be close to 100 percent by midnight," said Montuori. Police Chief Tinothy Sheehan said, after talking to a National Grid representative, that full power restoration should be completed by midnight Thursday. Approximately 10,400 Tewksbury homes and businesses lost power as the result of the bizarre October storm. Across Massachusetts, more than 600,000 residents lost power in the storm. …

National Grid: Hoping For Great Progress Tonight

Power has been restored to many so far.

National Grid crews have worked around the clock to restore power to residents, and company officials are assuring residents that great progress has been made and will be made tonight. "Since the storm's peak, we've restored power to approximately 200,000 customers," said Marcy Reed, president of National Grid in Massachusetts. The company currently has about 220,000 customers in Massachusetts without power. "We have about 2,500 workers in our communities clearing trees and restoring the power systems," Reed said. "I expect we’re going to make great progress tonight, and I’m hoping to have power back to about half of the customers that we currently have out [by morning]." Asked what she has to say for the countless frustrated customers …

At least you should have power now. I can't believe the ineptness of National Grid. They fianlly removed the tree that was there since Sunday, but 26 homes on Rogers and a side street are STILL in the dark as of this Thurs morning. I called them again last night and was told there's a down line on Rogers with a truck on the scene. Not a truck in site, anywhere the entire evening. Maybe they were …   more ›

Gov. Patrick Urges Patience, Caution in Storm Aftermath

The governor held a press conference Monday and said it could be days before some residents have electricity.

Gov. Deval Patrick met with cabinet members and utility company representatives to discuss power restoration efforts at the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency headquarters Monday morning. "We were hit with, in some cases, up to 30 inches of heavy wet snow," Patrick said. "It's a particular challenge because not only did it come too soon, but there are leaves on the trees causing many limbs to come down." Tewksbury only saw a few inches of snow, but the aftermath has been dismal for the thousands in town without power. National Grid has estimated that many residents in Tewksbury may be without power until Thursday night. Patrick called for patience while power is restored -- a very gradual process he said could take several days. "…
