Historical Society Proposes Line–of-March Memorial

Project would honor Tewksbury minutemen who participated in first battles of the american Revolution.

(Editor's Note: The following information was submitted by The Tewksbury Historical Society.) On Saturday, April 27th, representatives of the Tewksbury Historical Society visited neighborhoods of East Street, Lee Street, and Chandler Street, to meet with residents and provide them with a phamplet on the history of the Tewksbury Minute Men Militia who participated in the historic first day of the American Revolutionary War , along Battle Road in Concord and Lexington on  April 19th, 1775. Our town’s  Minute Men marched from the town common, led by Captain John Trull, up East Street, onto Lee Street, and then up Chandler Street, towards Billerica, and onward to Concord. Tewksbury's Got Talent Tryouts Set For Tuesday Night

Annual talent showcase is sponsored by Historical Society as part of the Charter Day Celebration.

(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by the Tewksbury Historical Society.) The Tewksbury Historical Society is planning a "TEWKSBURY HAS TALENT" tryout to celebrate the 278th Charter Day Celebration of the birthday of Tewksbury. We are inviting people to try out by singing, dancing, acting, story telling, comedy, or playing musical instruments.  We will have one tryout as a rehearsal (see below).  The performers will be judged by a three-panel person and by the audience.  We hope the most of the performers will be able to participate in a final event.  Applications and rules are available in your school's office or the Senior Center.  Applications are also available on line: Tewksburyhistoricalsociety.com  Rules & …

Historical Society Rededicates School Room to Former Educator

Ruth Tingley Anderson taught at Tewksbury schools for over 30 years.

The Tewksbury Historical Society met Thursday to rededicate a room at the North Street School for former teacher Ruth Tingley Anderson. The plaque marking the room had been lost for decades and was recently recovered by the Historical Society. Anderson, a Tewksbury elementary school teacher, taught for over 30 years at several schools in Tewksbury, including the North Street School, the former Foster School, and the old Shawsheen School. School Department officials dedicated a room at North Street to Anderson upon her retirement from teaching.
