Furious Redmen Rally Falls Short in Softball Title Game

Tewksbury scored three times in the seventh and put the tying run on third base before Burlington escaped with a 6-5 win and the North Division 2 championship.

Tewksbury High School nearly pulled off a seemingly impossible comeback during the North Division 2 softball championship game. But the Redmen fell about 60 feet short. Trailing by a 6-2 margin with just three outs to standing between themselves and elimination, the locals pushed home three runs and had third-seeded Burlington on the ropes. But the Red Devils enduced a pop out in front of home plate for the third and final out of the top of the seventh, and Tewksbury's season came to an end with a 6-5 loss. Redmen Win, One Away From First North Softball Title

Tewksbury High School edged Reading, 3-1, on Wednesday night in Lowell to reach the North Division 2 championship game.

The Tewksbury High School softball team has had an exciting run through the North Division 2 postseason. But thanks to a Wednesday win, the Lady Redmen are one win from making it a historic run. Following a 3-1 victory over Reading in the semifinals on Wednesday, Tewksbury is now one win from capturing its first ever sectional crown. "She's been red hot," said head coach Leo DiRocco. "You see how she plays out here? That's how she plays in practice every day ... She's a student for the game, and her IQ for the game is unbelievable." Thanks to Hardy's efforts and …

The most successful campaign in Tewksbury High School boys lacrosse program history came to a close on Tuesday, despite the best effort of the Redmen. Arlington toppled the locals, 11-10, in the opening round of the East Division 2 postseason, eliminating Tewksbury, which hosted a playoff game for the first time in team history. After peppering Arlington's keeper with scoring chances, Tewksbury had the ball with just under a minute to go trailing by a goal. But the Spy Ponder defense buckled down and didn't let Tewksbury fire off a last gasp attempt to tie the game. Still, head coach Joe Ginsbury viewed the season as a positive, with the team improving from a blowout loss during last year's postseason. "It's about elevating the program, …
