Nicholas J. Gangemi, 32

Former hockey goaltender for Tewksbury High and Fitchburg State College

Nicholas John Gangemi, age 32, a former high school and college Hockey goaltender, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, June 18, from an apparent heart attack during the night. He had returned to Tewksbury from N.C. to attend the wedding of his mother and step-father on Friday night. He was born in Winchester, September 27, 1978, a son of Christine Stavros and Daniel J. Gangemi. He was raised in Tewksbury, and was active in youth sports, and especially youth hockey. He went on to become the Varsity Goaltender for the Tewksbury Redmen before his T.M.H.S. Class of 1996 graduation. He went on to Fitchburg State where he became the Goaltender for the Fitchburg Falcons, before his 2000 graduation. He was currently working as a sales …

Tewksbury Redmen Are The Division II State Champions

Tewksbury boys hockey wins in overtime.

The Tewksbury Redmen are the Division 2 State Champions this afternoon, defeating Franklin 2-1 in an overtime win. After a scoreless first period for the Redmen, Tewksbury boys hockey was down 1-0 for the first one and a half periods. Midway through the second, the Redmen tied the game at 1-1 and it remained that way for the rest of regulation play. At 0:53 into overtime, Mark Petti shot the winning goal.

Tewksbury High Hockey Team Prepares For The Big One

Redmen face Franklin in the Division 2 state championship game Sunday afternoon at the TD Garden.

The weather may be warming up, but it's still winter in Tewksbury, at least through Sunday. The Tewksbury High hockey team ignored Friday's balmy temperatures during an intense mid-day workout at the Breakaway Ice Center in preparation for Sunday afternoon's Division 2 State Championship game against Franklin High, and according to TMHS coach Derek Doherty, maintaining that focus in the face of many other distractions will be critical to the team's success. The Tewksbury High athletic department has sold more than 2,000 tickets to Sunday's game, and the high school held a pep rally Thursday afternoon in honor of the team. TMHS hockey alumni have been resurfacing in droves, and a convoy of buses and cars will depart from the high school …
